Will John Edwards' endorsement of Barack Obama help him secure the Democratic Party's nomination?

SodaHead Politics 2008/05/14 23:41:24
Yes. Why didn't Edwards endorse sooner?
No. Edwards' endorsement of a candidate he previously blasted as inexperienced, hypocritical and lacking substance will not help Obama with voters looking for real change.

We cant leave Iraq without completely destroying their infrastructure and leaving the country to implode. The candidates know this. Obama will not be able to get us out of Iraq for good. I wish that he was more realistic about what is going on over there. We can not just leave the civilians over there with a greater mess than the one in which we created.

I didn't know they had an infrastructure. From all the newscasts I saw, the civil war will keep the infrastructure from existing for as long as we stay. We need to leave and let them work things out and then offer assistance but not occupation.

Whenever we leave (unless we do stay 100 years) it will be a mess.
The people will have to rise, maybe in segments, just like America has on civil rights for women, disabled - the whole long list.
Isn't that how a democracy is done?

He can't change anything 'assasin' the good ol boys club will never allow it; the senate and congress are the power and they have whoever is in the Presidency; where they want them...If he comes to win; he will dance to his endorsing 'good ol boys' and it is so written...or pay dearly by their hands...

I still think Sen. Clinton will get the nomination for various reasons, which I outlined in my SodaHead Presidential Election Prediction blog.

    you could be right!

I think it all depends on how many elites will go after her -

How many won't concern themselves with the right thing to do, rather just want to be seen on their percieved winners team -

I do know Pres Bush was talking to her today (about Iraq, war things)

And did he speak with Mr. Obama on that subject? Maybe Bush is part of Hillary's plan to be the next President... I would not put that past her or him.

Maybe. I thought there was a lot of racism when he got over 90% of the black vote; not exactly a exactly "color blind" choice, either. Somehow, the whole thing looks orchestrated to me; Sen McCain will most likely win if Barack is the nominee. Makes you wonder if we really do get to choose after all...

I think the 'good ol boy club' is elevating this man up to this level so that they will pull off their dirty little deeds and he will sign off...if he does not tow the line to their needs there is a couple scenarios that will play out.

Only power Obama has is that power allowed by the 'good ol boys' and if he had'nt signed off on it he would'nt even be close to where he is at this moment. One thing about Hillary; her ego would not allow her to captipulate to their demands...Obama is their man.

I think it does look less likely that she can win with pledge delegates. However, I still see the party worrying about Sen. Obama's ability to win the general election and the Clinton's wooing the super delegates before/during the convention.

I think so. He endorsed Obama because Obama said that he would seriously consider Edward's plan for reducing poverty in America.
    But... I don't see how ANY endorsements can hurt the candidate they endorse;
    AND... I like Edwards.

Both are progressive populists who will stand up to the corporatists in both the Republican and Democratic parties. Edwards' delegates alone swamp the delegate margin Hillary won from WV.
  • SunShine Warren ... 2008/05/15 17:42:27
    SunShine
what are you talking about.. Edwards had something like 16 delegates?? .. lol
  • Warren ... SunShine 2008/05/15 18:02:27
    Warren - Novus Ordo Seclorum
    Here's the facts:

WV Primary: 20 delegate (Clinton); 8 delegates (Obama)

    Edward's pledge delegates = 18

8-20+18 = 6 pledged delegate net margin for Obama.

    Are you still laughing?
