I think it will be struck down because of the mandate that everyone buy health insurance. I don't think that's Constitutional.

Regular for profit health insurance makes its money by denying your claims. Pleanty of people are denied medical services on a regular basis. I would rather have an elected official, someone we can vote out of office if we don't like their choices that some bean counter whos job it is to make more money by handing out fewer tests and procedures.

What I want or what I think will happen? I would guess that the mandatory insurance payments will be struck down and the rest left standing.

I hope it is all allowed to stand. The USofA is the ONLY developed country that doesn't provide universal health care for its people. I find this shameful.

It is a long way from universal health care. I agree it is shameful.

PPACA is not actually Universal Health Care which I would like to see. I would like to see the insurance companies taken completely out of the equation.

That would be wonderful, I agree. It's not Universal Health Care, but at least it's a step in the correct direction.

At least part of it likely will be in all estimation. People who think otherwise are incredibly optimistic on the interpretation of the interstate commerce clause. I find that most people who argue for constitutional grounds of Obamacare are more worried about self interest and political points that constitutional mandates.

You can have a law that is well intended and conceived (as I believe this one was) and still be unconstitutional.

The court will strike this down and send it back to the drawing board on a measure that does not infringe upon civil rights.

The higher courts have a history of striking down anything that is on he cusp. The healthcare law was shoved down our throats and does nothing to make sure employers continue to provide benefits to their employees. It needs to go....I'm still waiting for common sense legislation.

I have a more optimistic feeling about this that it will stand. That would be in the best interests of our country.

Maybe, but the court is not supposed to judge what would be in the best interests of our country. Their guidelines are pretty concise. If it is unconstitutional then regardless of it's common good they must rule against it.

They could rule in favor. There would be nothing anyone could do about it.

Technically that isn't true, technically the SCOTUS can be reversed through a Constitutional amendment which of course isn't going to happen. But I have to ask do you really want a Supreme Court that doesn't do their one and only job? Would you really want a Supreme Court that would say "well even though this is unconstitutional we're going to uphold it because it's best for the country?" (hypothetical of course) There is a reason that checks and balances exist. The Supreme Court is an important part of checks and balances and must function as designed in order to help maintain the integrity of Government.
