Will George Zimmerman be convicted of second-degree murder?

George Zimmerman is worried as his murder trial draws to a close, fearing that he could spend the rest of his life in prison if found guilty or in hiding if acquitted, his lawyer said. Zimmerman has spent the last few days huddling with family, ABC News has learned.

Zimmerman, 29, is charged with second degree murder for killing Trayvon Martin, 17, on Feb. 26, 2012. If convicted of that charge he could be sentenced to 25 years to life. If Zimmerman is convicted of a lesser charge like manslaughter, he could be sentenced to as much as 30 years.

Zimmerman's lawyer Don West today objected to any lesser charges being included in Judge Debra Nelson's instructions to the jury, producing the latest in a series of testy exchanges with the judge in recent days.

"The state charged him with second degree murder and they should be able to prove it," West said.

Will you ever offer an apology and fiscal restitution for maliciously editing the 911 calls to make Zimmerman appear a racist?

The female jury will probably not be hung.

Haven't heard anyone say the trial is going well for the prosecution.

In Florida the state sells guns for self-defense. My point is TM started the fight against GZ. People need to stop making it race issue out of ignorance. GZ is Peruvian morenos lol. Not white no disrespect. A neighborhood watch is supposed serve his community from intruders like TM was. My question to what is a minor doing at 10:00 pm out in street? That's to tell you TM isn't to be innocent. Why I'll tell we was suspended from school for having marijuana. According to MSNBC and NBC.

With a dad who's a former judge and a predominantly white jury this murderer walked setting a dangerous precedent that it is ok to stalk and murder teens as they walk home. I hope they can bring him down OJ Simpson style through civil courts. I also will not shed a tear if he suffers the same fate he dealt Trayvon.

The only reason I chose no for this poll is because for everyone who saw this case live, the judge chose not guilty. I was very upset with the court's decision. Even when the jury had their doubt's, the judge still chose not guilty. And the weird thing is while the jury and judge were having their lunch break, they said they would be coming back in a hour. No, they did not come back in a hour, they took more than that. Much more than it should have. What are they trying to say? That for a black person's case it's basically nothing? Everyone in this entire world is worth something. Travon Martin's case should no have been taken lightly. He could change the world, people have to realize a person's life is worth so much more than we know, so much more than we can give back. Losing a young life is losing something valuable. And its a 17 year old boy against a 28 year old man. Zimmer man can't be more guilty than that. even if he's not convicted now, they're are protests, and believe me, this isn't going down without a fight.

For sure he was going to be innocent. I knew that from the beging. Look how they chose the jury. Look how they dressed him, he probaly never owned a suit. He was dressed in the same color suit his lawyers was. He profile Travon because he was black, everyone knows that. Anyway it"s sad because he will never be able to live a normal life.

It's interesting listening to the arrogant outbursts of Fooled and others. Blacks are disadvantaged in the USA. When your parents are poor and you don't receive good education its hard to get a reasonable job. The decline starts from there. The slave trade and segregation are crimes that have left a scar and Whites should not forget that. They should not pretend that Black on Black violence has nothing to do with discrimination and depravation.
Zimmerman murdered Martin. It is foolish to stalk someone in the dead of night with a loaded gun when no crime has been commited. Professional police advised Zimmerman not to follow Martin. He should have waited for police. He ignored the advice thereby instigating a dangerous situation. Zimmerman knew there was potential danger and that is why he pursued Martin with a loaded gun. Zimmerman was obviously looking for a confrontation otherwise he would have waited for professional police.
Furthermore we are not sure who attacked who first. What is clear is that Zimmerman could not win a fist fight against a 17 year old! He lacked professional training. So you had an absurd situation whereby a weakling with a lethal weapon was stalking an innocent kid. Nobody is going to listen to a plain clothes
man in the dead of night who has been f...

We do know that Zimmerman disobeyed professional police. He stalked and then murdered Martin. Make no mistake about this Zimmerman is a murderer and he will be brought to justice.

How did he stalk Trayvon? While I consider this case sad all around. The beginning of the end started when Trayvon hit George.

No, the beginning started when GZ profiled and stalked a teen simply walking home after being told by authorities no to. He robbed a teen of his life, a family of their son. I hope he meets a real thug and gets what he gave.

If you wouldn't have listened to NBC, etc., and listened and read the truth and seen all the reports (all online) available, you would have a different opinion. TM was not the :"innocent little boy" they tried to make him out to be. GZ did not profile him or stalk him. NBC edited the 911 call to make it appear that he was stalking TM. GZ was on the way back to his truck to wait for the police after letting 911 know the name of the street from the street sign.

I won't get into the rest of the reasoning for Not Guilty verdict, but the jury made the right decision because of the wording of the murder and not guilty definitions.

Plus the picture of a 17y/o when he was 8 didnt show a media bias. Give me a break. They edited his features to make Trayvon less threatening.

That is a distorted view. A dispatcher has no authority to tell Zimmerman to do anything. And all of us profile. A guy sneaking around in a neighborhood is suspicious. When Martin hit Zimmerman is when it all went south. Look at Zimmermans injuries. They were consistent with him being attacked, and Z had a right to defend himself. Still a sad case but legally correct.

He was hispanic, but that doesnt fit into your agenda now does it. If you understood the law, you would know why T was wrong. However, all you see is black and white and you are angry that the white guy was right. I look at it differently. The bad guy attacked someone and in the end it went south.

Hello trayvon started the fight. And if he had skittles and tea. What is young teenager doing outside at 10:00 at night on a school night or outside period? Looking for trouble he was up to NO good. He got suspended at school for marijuana. According to MSNBC and NBC. Don't make trayvon to "innocent". BTW the state of Florida has self protection rules with guns sold legally for protection.

And what genius led you to this conclusion? Casey Anthony and OJ Simpson are still fine.

If finding him guilty for his safety in opposition to the evidence is how you'd like to do things, then let's just all be found guilty and imprisoned as a country for our safety.

Zimmerman has been found not guilty. To all those who called me racist because I wanted justice for Trayvon's killing you're entiltled to your opinion. For me it was never about race. Why couldn't a black person support the effort to bring Trayvon's killer to justice without being accused of being racist? The letter of the law allowed Zimmerman to get away with murder? So be it. The defense didn't prove that Zimmerman was not guilty; the prosecution just failed to prove that he was. One of the defense attorneys just spoke to the media and stated that the prosecution's case was disgraceful. So was theirs. They helped a guilty man go free. A man whose account of the night that Trayvon died was filled with inconsistencies. Injustice happens everyday in the USA. Certain segments of society deal with it more than others. That Zimmerman goes free lends credence to the feeling in the black community that our lives aren't worth anything. Michael Vick was sent to prison because of dog fighting that took place at his home while he was not there but Zimmerman walks having instigated the encounter that caused the death of Trayvon Martin? That's justice? I've read comments on sodahead that accused the trial of Zimmerman as some kind of plot by President Obama....how asinine ...

Because the President said that Trayvon could have been his son? His statement was not referring to the fact that Trayvon was black but that he could have been anyone's son. Enlightened people would have gotten that. They would have understood.

"Zimmerman instigated the conflict" Yep you're right, George went up to Trayvon and said....please break my nose and bang my head into the sidewalk so I can shoot you!!! Please don't respond with a hardy "but George was following him......!!" It will only demonstrate your ignorance and bias. Meanwhile we have black kids dying by the hundreds at the hands of other blacks in Detroit and Chicago and not a word……not a word…..interesting. When will the black community get their collective heads out of their collective hind parts?

Where are you you living? Everyday there is news about what is going on in the major cities of America. Maybe it's not mentioned through the news media that you listen to or watch. That's not what we're addressing. If George had stayed in his vehicle Zimmerman's nose would not been broken, his head wouldn't as you say been bashed against the sidewalk; he initiated the confrontation. Was George not following him? By his own admission he was. Can you deny that fact?
