Judging from the comments the GOP will not be around long if the vociferous anti obama have their way. They tend to turn on their own (Hagel was after all a republican senator ) The Democratic party is more brilliant than I thought they were, they are headhunting the beast and brightest (and not brain dead) from the GOP and absorbing them into the Democratic party. Good job Dems.

The only serious problem he has is the desire by some Republicans for payback over the many hostile comments he directed at them while in the Senate. The rest is window dressing to disguise that fact. While that will certainly cost him some votes, I don't see it as enough to derail his nomination in the Democrat controlled Senate.

Probably but will require a large stack of dressings to stop the bleeding - he has much baggage to answer for and both republicans and democrats have expressed major concerns. Remains to be seen if democrats will wimp out and do the cheerleader thing they do so well or actually ask the questions they have expressed to the press.
