It was supposed to be a compliment - the artist claimed it showed how far from slavery modern American black women had come. It presents itself as racially insensitive, however.

It's her issue not mine. My life is full enough without wasting energy on something that seems so petty to me. But to her, her husband, her kids ... well, like I said, it's her issue. Personally I do NOT find it offensive in any way. It's actually quite beautiful.
