Why is Obama exerting "executive privilege" w/ Fast & Furious", when such action only applies to his direct actions involved with it?

Executive Privilege is intended to protect the President's communications and actions, not the Attorney General's. Is the President more involved with "the program started by Bush" (their excuse of who started it) then what they want his devoted followers to believe? IF this is the fault of George Bush, why not support the revealing of documents? Do his followers care if the administration thinks they don't need to secure their right to transparency during future republican presidents? Will Obama supporters ever have a line in the sand where they will expect him to behave differently than GW? Holder testified he did not discuss Fast and Furious with President Obama. Yet Obama is claiming Executive Privilege. Did Holder LIE to Congress? Did Obama know about the Program, to be able to take such action? Or is Holder lying, and misusing the law?

Seems to me you're confused on executive privilege.. Has pretty much always been defined by presidents to include 'high level members of the executive'*. Perhaps remedial civics or political science classes are indicated here. That said anytime any president uses executive privilege it 'smells' bad whether it was Dick Cheney or Bill Clinton or Harriet Miers or Barrack Obama. In the Bush Admin 'High Levels' even extended to the relatively lowly Sara Taylor - a political director. The entire investigation into fast and furious is almost as misguided as the program itself and the program itself, while a mess, was an inconsequential contribution of guns to Mexico compared to our lax laws that allow hundreds of thousands of weapons into both Canada and Mexico. About 80% of handgun murders in Canada are committed with handguns smuggle in from the US. That's not an export to be proud of.

It would seem that that is the case. Here's what Judge Andrew Napolitano says about it:

"Executive privilege protects communications with the president, the human being of the president, not with people that work for him and the Justice Department," Judge Andrew Napolitano said on FOX News today.

"If the attorney general sat down and discussed it with the president, he probably doesn't want the Congress and the public to know that, because we know of the awful events that occurred as a result of the Fast and Furious escapade. But we also know that executive privilege only pertains to military, diplomatic, and sensitive national security matters. Now, was fighting the drug gangs at the border a sensitive national security matter? And, if so, was the President of the United States of America personally involved in making decisions as to how to conduct that fight? If that's the case, this has reached a different level and we now know why the attorney general has ferociously defended these documents," he said.

Even more curious is the question of how obama thinks can exert executive privilege over an issue he supposedly knew nothing about without raising a few eyebrows, and opening the door for impeachment in the process!

"The Obama administration admits the letter was in error, but they have always maintained that the knowledge of these tactics did not reach the top political appointees in the Obama Department of Justice."!

The above quote was taken from this source: http://www.foxnews.com/opinio...

Letter? How about Eric Holder confidently & arrogantly looking DIRECTLY into Cantor's eyes and telling him he had "I only found out about Fast and Furious over the last few weeks" (direct quote May 2011). If he's an Attorney, and he considers that not a solid answer- he should NOT be the head of the DOJ. People have gone to jail via his department over "lying" like this- how is it it's okay for him?

Maybe both! Wow, can't believe the implications! But it won't matter though to his followers, they only make decisions on impulse, like buying candy while in the grocery line. They don't have the common sense to think about how they will reduce their own interests in the future should a Republican President does the same thing. In fact, they should all support Bush going into war without Congress now. Just like Obama changing his mInd about addressing the deficit and instead deciding to stress the economy with another entitlement program in addition to the ones that started this mess. Great game plan (sarcasm). Wonder what would have happened had he stabilized the economy first???
