Why is it that, when one communicates a disagreement with one or more of President Obama's policies, some Obama supporters feel the need to immediately label you a racist?

I do not have a problem with fixing the healthcare system. I currently have no insurance I have a child i take care of and when he gets sick it comes out of pocket. I at one point had great health care that i paid into but when i lost my job i could no longer afford it. I got a new job and i'm waiting for my mediocre benefits to kick in after the year waiting period I agree it is a very messed up situation but i dont think that giving everyone health care will lessen the lines in the emergency rooms. I used to be able to squander money on whatever luxury i wanted now I sometimes fight to make from pay check to pay check. I've seen facilities like the one your speaking of I've been to ones like the ones you speak of where the drs rush you along because they have a waiting room full of people that arent going anywhere unless they are being rerouted to the morgue. To say im uneducated in the ways of the world is wrong for you to say, I have worked for everything i got- I've been down and out and picked myself up again and again and again only to try again. How am I going to fair once my taxes go up? Is that greedy that im more worried about making sure that I can continue to survive than i am worried about someone else paying their mortage? Granted if I am late on my bills I'm not going to die- but why should i put myself in rougher times just to let people breath easy or relax when i dont even get that privilidge? You can say they arent going to raise taxes on me but they will- The stimlus package, the budget for the year- the omnibus package all these things cant come from the richest percent of people. I am all for reform but im not all for handouts. I dont want my child growing up thinking its ok for him to get takin care of by the government. I want my child to grow up knowing the pride you get from fullfilling your responsibilities by yourself (if you cant do that and you need a little temporary assistance thats fine with me I'm not saying we should do away with welfare and other programs I think they need reformed alittle too) There are better ways to do it agreed but they arent what this administration is doing.

I agree with you.. But I don't feel the last adminstration did anything either... as a matter of fact I have been interested in politics since I was about 14 since the Iran-contra scandal... " I can't recall"... and it seems no-body has ever tried to fix any of this until it has become so large it threatens to destroy our country... In the 80s it was about living good... in the 90s we went to "war" and went into recession pulled out of that, lived great for awhile and here we are again... It seems to be a cycle of living good and shirking our responsibilities and caring only about ourselves and when it comes time for us to pay for them we bitch and moan about how horrible it is ... I say screw the greedy mortgage companies and the greedy health insurance companies who are part of the problem... No, I don't feel that we should pay for some loser who over-extended his credit... But say it were you and you children being threatened with being homeless... through no fault of your own because they went from 1,500 mortgage to a 3,000 mortgage per month and you weren't attempting to live beyond your means... you were lied to by some greedy mortgage company who thought they were slick and that the bottom would never fall out from under them.. Should you and your children be homeless through no fault of your own? And I never said you were uneducated in the ways of the world... That may be what you read in your head but that is not what I typed... and nobody should live off hand-outs... It encourages a lack of pride and self-worth... and you stated that "you were under the impression that health care was already provided through welfare so no one should be dying in the streets unless they haven't been living up to the expectations of even welfare" you seem to think that the rules for welfare are as easy as pie... I have never been on welfare but when I was young I became homeless at 8 months of pregnancy... I obviously couldn't work... so I applied for temporary food stamps and welfare... I was denied... "the social worker told me.." You're white obviously someone can take care of you" My first reaction was anger because if someone could take care of me I sure as hell wouldn't have been there in the first place... But it made me say "fu** it, why bother and I slept on couches until I was recovered and could go back to work... But I don't think that it is easy to recieve welfare or stay eligible for it... The problem lis with the social workers being thorough in their assessments and check-ups... It is the whole something for nothing ideaology that every one seems to protest but on the other hand they do the same thing... Rich, Poor, White, Black, everyone wants to have their cake and eat it to... maybe if we weren't so begrudging in sharing that cake once in a while our country wouldn't be in the mess it is in...

Everyones seen it as if it isnt broke dont fix it and its that toaster that even though 4 of the filaments are broke 2 still work- makes for some pretty crappy toast but still technically works. I think if the mortage company changed the price or if you lost your job in the recession than yea you could use alittle help but there were plenty of people that are getting bailed out just for making the bad decisions they did. I feel sorry that you were denied but i know plenty of people that dont make enough to get insurance that get insurance for their chilren and like the bare bare minimal for themselves through welfare. I know other people that abuse the system work under the table and make a good wage and still manage to get a mediocre insurance through the government for free (those people piss me off). There are alot of people i have met that find it is hilarious to abuse the system like they are and i know other people that are ashamed that they need the assistance but its all they can do for now to get by. I hate to sound like i advocate punishing everyone for the people that abuse the system but i think something has to be done because even if a minority of people are abusing that is still alot of unnecessary money coming out of my pocket (i'd say millions of dollars go to people abusing welfare, unemployment, and other programs designed for temporary assistance.) I have no problem sharing my cake when i can. I volunteer at my community centers several churches and several private orgs that do like the canned food drives and things of that nature but i do it out of the kindness of my heart and i know the people getting my charity are not people abusing the system. I've seen the look on the peoples face when the recieve their boxs of canned food some people have this greatful look even though you can tell they are hiding their feeling of being slightly ashamed. They are greatful for the help they recieve. I've never heard any of them say "well ya know i dont really like canned beats could i trade it for those carrots in that box"? People like me have lost confidence in the system. you say it needs reform so do i but i just dont think putting money into a failing project is a great idea. Lets use welfare for an example. I pay 1 dollar towards welfare but instead of of the dollar going to theie health care and food stamps and EBt card they get 13 cents, 52 cents is split between the teller at the welfare office, rent for the space, and the human service people that work there. then the other 35 cents is split up between road projects and other things that arent in direct relation to that person. When i donate a can of food to the food drive they sponsors dont take a serving out for themselves before they give the needy. you make alot of valid considerable points and thank you for talking with me as civily as you did. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding I took " I don't think your greedy or racist but I do think your opinions are uneducated thoughts on how the world is.. " to be a personal statement direct at myself becasue of my views and after your explanation i understand what you meant so again i apologize for the misunderstanding. I really do appreciate the time you took to talk with me about this. I can't account for everyones personal expirences so hearing what i did of yours puts me in a better understanding of where your coming from with your opinion.
