This is a good question. There are some conservative issues I support and some liberal. But no matter what they are positions I hold after long and careful analysis and not because of a party affiliation or blind obedient loyalty. They are based on intelligent consideration. Not catch phrases or ideologies

Most people on SH tend to make assumptions about others assigning them to a stereotype they have determined often based upon a single statement. They do this because they are too damn lazy to have a discussion or look at other comments made by someone to try to get to know who they are and what it is they believe.

not always. Im a libertarian. I get accused of being a RWNJ by liberals and have yet to be accused of being a liberal by conservatives. They say im not a true conservative, which is true! but, then again there is some cool liberals out there. not all are closed minded.

When I as a Libertarian get accused of not being a Conservative I remind them that supporting undeclared wars, debt, foreign aid, and removing our rights in the name of security, are not Conservative traits. So in fact I am more Constitutionally Conservative than they are.

a strong defense. I believe in peace through power. HOWEVER, if we did go to war with Iran I would support it as well, but Iran and Israel would have to be at war first.

Israel is not our 51st state. I know the Christian fundamentalists want to "protect" Israel, but if Israel wants to be safe they should stop having Mossad assassinate foreign scientists & dignitaries. Until then I refuse to have the United States be the muscle for the snot nosed wimpy kid that always starts the fights but wants me to finish them. A little harsh, I know, but we cannot afford this anymore & Israel needs to start acting like a sovereign nation.

I am actually in agreement with David about Israel. I oppose giving them money or weapons, but I do think that, since there is a direct benefit to America, support Israel is well within our constitutional and reasonable limits.

Per our Constitution without a declaration of war we cannot take military action to aid Israel, so in the grand scheme of things Congress decides that, not the POTUS.

That doesn't change the fact that we should do it. We should just do it constitutionally, (i.e. with a declaration of war).

I'm just that if it is to be done it be done in the proper & legal manner. The law of the land still matters.

Because people are more comfortable pigeon holing others--keeps them from having to do the hardest thing of all: thinking for themselves.

the extreme's on both sides have adopted a our way or the highway mentality.people are very passionate about this election.

the sad part is that there is little to no difference between the two "big" candidates to get excited about... Of course the one that can make a difference is shunned & made fun of.

Because those who are locked into a given partisan mindset cannot comprehend that some people are capable of thinking outside of pre defined parameters. So if you are not in lockstep with them, the only conclusion they can draw is that you are in lockstep with the other partisan flock

Human nature seems designed to look for and profile an enemy. People want to take sides, belong to a group, have an identity common with others. Religions, race, cultural traditions and political affiliation all support that.
