As an accomplished politician, Bill Clinton knows how to appease both sides. He knows Obama is in big trouble for this upcoming election process and so he intimates extension of tax cuts until after the election. The alluded-to meaning being that we can address raising taxes after Obama gets put back into office for another four years. On the other hand, coming out with a statement that he recommends extension of tax cuts places the anti-tax folks into the false sense of security that he means what he says.
I personally think Clinton made his comments strictly for the purpose of appearing centrist and falsely assuring conservatives that he's against all the spending and taxing. They didn't name him Slick Willy for nothing, you know.
One of Obama's problems is he says he wants to cut taxes for small businesses but he says he doesn't want to extend the Bush tax cut. That sends a mix message to small businesses. Does he want to cut or raise taxes on them?
And further depress this Obama-depressed economy.
