Why do you think America's education(high school) is going down?

I think it's because kids focus more on how to be the next singer or basketball star than the next doctor . An American's education used to be the best and most valued in the world....but now America comes last or close to last in standerized testing.
Is it because the teacher's pays are too low?
Or is it because the school system doesn't encourage it's students to learn?
Or does the problem lie in the media?

Because American children think they are special and are getting walloped by Asians who have a tremendous work ethic. Today, top American colleges are turning qualified Asians away because otherwise the entire class would be Asian children.

They hire mediocre teachers that cannot be reviewed on merit. The system is flawed and broken like most taxpayer funded organizatiosns. Some School Boards are much more efficient than others. You can tell when a school is not up to standards. i was elected to a school board 3 times, I know how things work,

I agree. Yea, hit after hit I learned to have strong work ethics but lacked motivation, understanding, and encouragement. I know for a fact that when or if I do raise my own children. I will not let them down and make sure they get educated and lectured like an asian, hard working like a mexican, and have power like a white person.

but i don't think it really has to do with the parents though. I'm an american, and My parents are almost never home because my dad's a doctor so he comes home really late, and my mom is business women and she spends most of the school year out of the country... :/. i get straight A's and a few B+....idk maybe it's different for me because my parents are African and if i get B+ i get yelled at for not trying enough.
