Why do some questions/blogs get more attention than others?

Have you ever posted a question that had such mind binding revelations, a veritable epiphany of cosmic aid to man kind...and only three people showed any interest and you got maybe 1.5 raves? And then the next week you post a new coupon for toilet paper and 900 people show up and rave the s*** out of the post? Why is that?

Situation like this happened last year to me and I was reminded of it by a post I answered this morning that was posted several days ago...I was the only reply, lol!
