Why do people need more than one gun?

I have lived over 60 years and did not need one.My Dad lived 90 years and never needed one. When I was a kid I lived in a tough neighborhood. One of the first time I was allowed out to go play with a friend a Veteran on the street blew his head off.I saw him being put in rescue...great first outing. Maybe more movies with a love story may help, instead of all these that promote violence.VIOLENCE begets VIOLENCE.In last 60 he bought all the rounds of fire via internet and bought weapons in last 60 days.....HOW can this happen??? Gun do kill people!!!! God bless the dead and injured.

The tragedy is that you feel that way. I know about a dozen ways to kill you with a pencil. Should we outlaw pencils. The automobile is the nations greatest killer. Quick. Run out and outlaw cars. Things don't kill people. People kill people with things. I happen to like to collect firearms, particularly old ones. I also have a home defense weapon. A .357 loaded with alternating shot and solid rounds.

How many intruders have been stopped by someone shooting off their mouth

A handgun is better for self protection, rifles and shot guns are better for different kinds of hunting, hunting fed me and my kids a few times when we would of had no food at all.

I dont hunt, my husband does. The last thing killed were a few deer last year. Most of them have already been eaten but last weekend I sent some venison home with my brother and my sister for their families to get the freezer empty and ready for next hunting season.

you know myself i grew up in South Central LA and never once felt the need for a gun, my mom never had one either. With that said i don't begrudge anyone who wants one, but like you i don't see the need for one only designed to kill more efficiently. A hunting riffle which to me is not hunting, or two a couple of hand guns, but i don't see the need for military issue guns. I also do not want to take away anyone's gun, but i also want those people to understand that i have a right to feel secure that if we get into a debate they wont go all ballistic and blow my head off, i have that right to feel secure. If the republicans don't want sane gun laws, then allow me to legally purchase a military issued bullet proof vest or body armor.

Different applications. Some guns are for home defense and some may be for hunting, some people are simply gun lovers.

Tragic that people see it that way. I can own all the weapons i want to buy. Is it so wrong that one enjoys their firearms ? I spent many days enjoying hunting as a kid with my father and my grandfather. Was raised around weapons still enjoy them till this day. As it stands today i still have my right to keep and bear arms no matter the number.

Sad that one see's it in that light but some like wild game. Which should be no one's business. Sad that one would not see the bonding of parents, grandparents and children enjoying the outdoors. Must be sad as well if we kill fish too huh ? That takes no guns just a hook and a knife.

Guns do not kill people, people kill people.

Sister, what was the first murder recorded in the Bible? Cain slew Able. He did it with a rock. He didn't have a gun but he found a way to vent his rage and jealousy and kill Able.

Also, read Thomas Aquinas and his philosophies on Divine Law and Natural Rights. One of man's God-given Natural rights is the right to defend oneself, one's family and one's property.

I'm here today because at a critical moment in my life I was armed; a man that wanted to kill me and rape my wife was unable to fulfill his plan when I put a couple of 9mm holes in him. He was armed as well, he shot first, just missed - not by much. I had no intention of an armed confrontation that night but I also had, and have, no intention of letting harm come to my family.

The problem is not the existence or possession of deadly technology, but of people who use that technology to initiate force against another. THAT is what is immoral and THAT is what we must work to stop. The only thing more immoral than initiating force against another is denying someone the right to protect themselves against the initiation of force.

Jackson also owned slaves, as did Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, Van Buren, W.Harrison, Tyler, Polk, Taylor, A.Johnson and Grant. Does that mean you approve of slavery, too?

Switzerland is peaceful because most of the European elites hide their money there and not one nation would dare invade it. Plus not to mention the fact that they keep their nose out of everyone's business and actually takes care of their citizens you know all that socialism running amok over there, taking away their freedoms and what not, you freaking dickwad.

Actually it depends on what you need to bring down. When you need to defend yourself from urban predators, a handgun is the preferred weapon.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people. He could have been slitting throats in a dark theater, and done just as much damage. I have over 70 firearms and several thousand rounds of ammunition, and I practice firearm safety. I watch violent movies, and i know they are fantasy, but possible. I hate my neighbors for their loud music and possible drug dealings, but I don't have the urg to outright kill them. That's in my nature and I credit that to a great upbringing. If I have to defend myself or others, ending in killing someone, I will.

Do think any of them may have a gun at home? Do you think any of them may have wished to have a gun of their own at that time? Everyone there, but one person, was there to see that movie. No one had any reason to believe that one deranged person was going to attack them. This could have been any where, any time, but one man decided it to be there and then. Sister Jean, you put you belief in God, but you have no understanding of your fellow man. I own guns, it does not make me evil. If so, then you'll be happy to know I do own a bible and it makes good. All bible carriers are good, right? You have to see, this is not the weapons, but the man who deployed the weapons. He booby trapped his apartment with bombs and other chemicals. He could have attacked the people in that theater with those means as well and done far more damage. I didn't sleep well, because I kept thinking of the people who went through this tragedy. Their peace was stolen and lost most control over their situations. I wish I had been there with my gun to stop that bastard!

At least one, I'm sure. Wouldn't it be great if one of the victims came out and was a top handgun expert and marksman that COULD have stopped him with a minimum of injury? Maybe then people would change their minds in favor of 2nd amendment rights instead of using this tragedy to scare everyone into giving up that right?

Sister Jean i hate to say this, but the only thing that changes about man, is our unique ability to dole out violence in a more efficient way. Thousands of years ago it was rock , then we graduated to wood, then some found out how to use minerals and then we learned how to use nature for torture. The only thing different between now and then, then you had to get up close to actually kill some one. Now you can do it a mile away, no regrets, no muss no fuss. You are correct that we are a violent society, and America in particular when it comes to perpetrating violence against (rather it be physical or verbal) our fellow citizens is right up there with some of the most violent countries in the Middle East. The only difference between us and them is we call our violence a needed action where as we call their violence a violation of Human Rights.

yeah the difference between a gun and another tool like bat, is you have to look a person in the eye while batting them to death.
