Why do people hate me just because I'm shy?

It's no fair! I'm shy myself and it's annoying when people ask "why are you so quiet?" What if I have nothing to talk about? What if they think my voice is horrible? What if they think I'm ugly? Whenever I get friends, they usually forget about me and befriend someone else. I wish I could overcome my shyness, but I can't. It's who I am. Why do some people hate me just because I'm shy?

i am soooooo happy that otheres are in the same situation. i barely have friends.its like my voice gos down when people talk 2 me.lol

i don't hate shy people. Mainly because i am/ was one. People would ask me why im so quiet and i just wouldn't answer them... :p

I feel the same exact way, Katie. People ask me why I'm so quiet all the time! I can't help myself.. that's who I am. At home with family... well that's a different story. I'm loud. lol

I don't expect them to understand, though. Most extroverts don't understand introverts at all.

I completely agree with you Amy, I'm the same way. They really don't have any way to see that it's not easy to become so extroverted so they think it's easy.

I think that you`ve let go before and it most likely would have included alcohol. if not Maybe try some time it can help loosen up sometimes under the right circumstances...

Well it is the thing that helps you to bust out, as witnessed by those school yard bad boys and stuff and if you would of ran with us a little you would have broken out, maybe one of the daringist... Seen it happen...

It`s not about that, it`s part of the fun that comes to us as we search for outlets of enjoyment with friends really no diff than playing cards or something and with friends and being out together the mood can be great really no alcohol is requiredbut it tends to loosen some inhabitions , but I haven`t drank to exess in years moderation is cool ...

I get what what you're saying. But I can only be totally open with my close friends and no one else no matter how hard I try. It's who I am and I can't change.. it's not easy..

Roc, wev`ve been in contact for sometime and you should know that my intentions were never anything but upstanding... As are you I am also alpha... You seem to have taken this much farther that I insinuated as I suggested that it could open one up to the ability to be able to get over the block that has kept this lady from being open enough to be able to meet that special someone...

NOT HARDLY!!! There is quite a difference!!! I was only merely stating that sometimes the release of something that is pent up, regardless of the means to be released from that can allow one to become a little free with their thoughts and allow them to speak what`s on their minds...

Being shy I used alcohol for years and it helped, too much. I found I could easily talk to anyone with it. But it never changed ME. When I was sober I just felt guilty and stupid for saying so much and i was back being quiet and shy. Eventually I became addicted to alcohol. Now i am off it and just stay away from people.

elaine, I`m sorry to hear of your plight. I only mentioned this because it can be an aid if and only if it is used in moderation... It seems to have the ability to ply open some of the feelings that one may have that keeps one to themselves tightly... Sometimes the use of alcohol can have an unusual effect upon myself that can cause me to tell to much...
