Why do liberals love personal attacks?

Cal 2012/10/28 15:19:54
I don't understand it personally. I think I need a liberal to come out and spill the beans. Why does every liberal debate like a pissed off prom queen? When they are even slightly losing a debate or even come across any form of conflicting opinion they turn nasty. They'll debate....but almost like a cue .....there will always be at least one personal attack in their rant. Usually a really off color one about intelligence like they are the only group allowed to have an opinion. Does that seem extremely bigoted to anyone else

It get's worse. I know quite a few liberals and while some are nice, many in fact, are the same way offline. It's their way or the highway....and if you are not on their "highway"...you are automatically ignorant or a radical. What's up that shit??

So I want to know, and I want a liberal to explain to me why this is so. Why do conservatives always seem to take the high ground and the liberals the low ground? We all have opinions right? Is there some sort of liberal handbook we're all missing that says "step 4 insult the person you are debating"? "step 5 act immature and whiny".

What gives liberals??

When they lack facts, and only repeat the lies from team obama and the DNC, they realize that they are out-classed. Hence they resort to insults and attacks. Then when you add their outright hatred of Christians, and their hatred of a moral society, you can see why they become so hateful towards those that hold a different opinion.

the same reason some conservatives do. it doesnt exactly matter about political beliefs. its just that whoever's the least informed doesn't want to admit defeat, and instead turns to name calling and personal attacks. some conservatives have done it to me. they have accused me of the most ridiculous things, and when i tell them where they are wrong they go to name calling. i however wont name call in a debate. unless someone starts with me first.

From their Alinsky handbook, rule No. 5.
    5. “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It is almost impossible to counteract ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.”

Obama has been basically running on rule #5 and little else. You can see, it's not working.

Early on here, I thought it was mainly Conservatives who got their jollies by personally insulting and attacking those they disagree with. Eventually I noticed that all kinds of people are guilty of it, including those who identify as Liberals.
"Why do conservatives always seem to take the high ground and the liberals the low ground?" That has not been my observation at all, on SH or in 'real life'.

EVEN BETTER!! CAL COULDN"T STAND THE FACT THAT I WAS POINTING OUT ALL THE INSULTS BEING MADE BY "conservatives taking the high road" SO HE BLOCKED ME!!! LOLOLOLO HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! THAT IS PRICELESS!!!!

    OH CAL!! YOU ARE ADORABLE!!!!!

I know it's hilarious how folks on this thread make a slew of attacks, slinging insults and calling names left and right, trying to point out how the other "side"... attacks, insults and calls people names! ROFL! Here's just a few of the (from this post alone) direct quotes of folks calling themselves "conservatives, taking the high road"! LOL!
    - "how IGNORANT they are"
    - "devolve straight downwards to the Slander/libel"
    - "libs are very nasty for the most part"
    - "They always have to win or get the last word"
    - "all they can do to relive their frustration is use personal attacks"
    - "The answer is in their "rules for idiots" handbook"
    - "All Liberals do is lie and attack"
    - "Because the two remaining brain cells left in their heads are in a fight to the death."
    - "Liberals, especially liberal progressives believe they are better than everyone else."
    - "they are ruled by ideology and do not use common sense and think analytically."
    - "They were either born that way or dropped on their heads when they were babies"
    - (This is my favorite) "Name calling is the last refuge of the ignorant."
    - (This is pretty funny also) - "name calling, insults and character assassination is all they have"

Only if they are attacking the "CONSERVATIVES". Should any one attack their point of view, they will screem like stuck pigs. Now, I ask you, what would happen if someone in the CONSERVATIVE media, accuse this JERK we have in the WH, of "COWARDICE" in the face of danger, what would these liberals, socialists and communists say? As far as I know, most of the american people have all ready decided that OBAMA is not only an inveterate liar, but he is also a "COWARD". But so far, there is no one in the ALL POWERFUL media has yet to say this, in the open. What would these liberals, socialists and communists say if and when that happens?

The reason you believe this is because you are a conservative. I've seen plenty of liberals ask the same question of conservatives and plenty of conservatives personally attack others.

Asking this question simply shows your bias, you only witness wrong doing from the other side but ignore it when it happens on your side.

No offense...but you don't know me. You know nothing about me. Absolutely zero. Yet you claim such things....with no evidence at all. The fact that you directed it at me is simply amazing. You know why? Most certainly because you have just followed the long line of liberals proving the point of this poll.

uh, you do realize that asking a one sided question and making a generalization without evidence apart from "personal experience" is showing bias. That simply is bias. Nothing personal or insulting about it, everyone is biased at some point but it should always be pointed out.

"No offense...but you don't know me. You know nothing about me. Absolutely zero. Yet you claim such things....with no evidence at all"

The evidence is what I just presented in the previous statement, you don't know every liberal, yet you claim that they take the "low road" and that you take the "high road". Can't you yourself see the bias in that statement?

Apparently "personal insult" to you seems to mean "disagrees with me" in which case I can see how you came to the conclusion that liberals insult you personally. Also, I'm not a liberal.

As a progressive, I can answer this question in two parts:

    1) It isn't a personal attack if what we are saying is true, even if it ins't nice. The conservative movement is filled with incredibly stupid people (ex. Bachmann), and incredibly corrupt politicians (ex. Daryl Issa)--while this isn't the whole party, it is a significant and dominant chunk or it and our pointing these peoples' flaws out is merely an expression of fact.

    2) Every politician uses some degree of attack against opposing ideologies, not just liberals. Objectively speaking, most liberals suck at attacking and cannot hold a candle to the corporate-funded attack machines of the right (case in point: the "SwiftBoat Veterans"). For everything that the liberals do, the conservatives do worse, more, and more viciously (something that I am working change).

As to conservatives taking the high road: this is patently ridiculous. It wasn't the liberals who ran endless attack ads that speciously claim Obama to be foreign or illegitimate for years after his election. It wasn't liberals who impeached a Democratic president for having an affair while simultaneously having affairs of their own.

Have you every listened to Bachmann speak? Half of what she says is nonsense and the other half if wrong. Put plainly, she makes Sarah Palin look like a Rhodes scholar.

Here are a few examples of Bachmann's lunacy: http://politicalhumor.about.c...

As for Issa, he was a car thief, and he eventually moved his way up to insurance fraud (burning down his warehouse), intimidation (threatening an ex-employee who was going to sue him with a gun) and money laundering. Issa's only redeeming characteristic is that he is intelligent and was able to avoid directly incriminating himself in everything but the insurance fraud (which he settled out of court by forfeiting the insurance money).

First of all, this article snippet is incredibly poorly written (to the point of being impossible to read), and it gives no citations for its assertions. Based purely upon the $43 trillion number, I call bs, as this is far too significant a portion of our economy for me not to have read about. If anything, this number is in reference to the commodities, derivatives and futures markets, but that has nothing to do with money laundering. In addition to this, I am very familiar with federal RICO laws (I wrote a proposal for a way that corrupt Supreme Court justices could be attacked under the official misconduct segment of the RICO statute) and the snippet of this article doesn't even reference the act correctly (there is no way to serially violate the RICO Act).

If you can send me this from a reputable source, maybe I will actually read it (your link is broken).

Welcome to the wonderful world of conspiracy theories and specious lawsuits. This will go nowhere and, while the idea of putting the bankers who destroyed the economy (along with the right wingers who aided and abetted them) into jail, there is no legal basis for this lawsuit.

This lawsuit will go the way of the insane truther suits and will never really accomplish anything.

Realistically, I would look at the CA imminent domain case for a way to reclaim mortgages for people--have the government claim foreclosed houses under imminent domain, buy them for below current market value (dirt cheap), and sell them back to previous the owners at cost; this would cost the taxpayers nothing, and would fix a vast amount of our housing crises.
