Why did Obama get RE-Elected??!!

BlueRepublican 2012/11/13 23:52:26
I honestly want to ask this question. I usually get on my humble little SH soapbox and try to draw attention to certain issues and causes (tax reform, entitlement reform, campaign finance reform, prohibition, etc...)

But this one is for the entire community. WHY did Obama get re-elected? I mean, I just don't get it!!

Anyone who has a 401k or hopes to retire and live off a pension does not benefit from a second term.

Anyone who is successful or owns a small business does not benefit from a second term.

Anyone who believes in traditional marriage and is pro-life does not benefit from a second term.

Anyone who is pro-2nd amendment does not benefit.

Job creators, entrepenuers, business owners, large and small investors, energy producers, working folks whose taxes are going up to pay for Obamacare, retired folks on a pension, young workers who want to invest, anyone concerned about the national debt does not benefit from a second Obama term.

Unemployed people or underemployed workers, debt-saddled graduates who can't find a job, anyone concerned about personal Liberty and Constitutional freedoms being protected does not benefit from a second term.

I think I just listed over 50% of Americans in this country. So then what gives? What went wrong? Why did Obama get re-elected??!!

He got re-elected because MOST people in the United States believe the wealthy need to pay more in taxes.

Most women want control of their bodies. Only IDIOTIC Christian Fundamentalist women do not.

The Republicans caused the recession that wiped out everyone's 401K . Are you trying to lie your way out of that and blame it on the Democrats? It won't work.

Romney insulted 47% of Americans, calling them irresponsible and moochers. And you're SUPRISED that most Americans did not vote for him? That actually SHOCKS you? REALLY?

Those are just a few reasons. Your party DISGUSTS the MAJORITY of the American Electorate. That is why you got your ass kicked. And guess what? You will get your ass kicked AGAIN in 2016. So stop you damn whining already ...it's pathetic.

    Simple answer: The GOP sucked.

Democrats still appeal to a large portion of the nation in terms of policy, but most importantly, they are not the Teapublican. Of course to those who keep getting information from right wing radio, blog, and FOX news it is more like a reality slap. Of course, I expect them to go right back into their little bubble.

You are over thinking it when the answer is right in front of you. If you want to ask why people don't prefer the GOP, then that could take a while to list it all. Personally I am not sure if I can list it all before I get carpal tunnels.
  • Bastion 2013/05/02 14:12:20
Because the Republicans are ignorant, bigoted, and active shills for the predatory 1%.

Why ... ? Because far too many like to flap their mouth about patriotism, taking our country back, integrity, no more lies, protect our constitution, our Bill of Rights ... talking the talk so to speak and when it came time to be counted they couldn't or they refused to walk the walk but fell back into their old pattern of following the status quo because that's what government says they are to do ... when one chooses one evil over another ... the greater evil usually wins or haven't people figured that out yet ... ?

First the Republitards did not nominate the best candidate.

    Liberty Truth Ron Paul

Paul had effectively stolen the college vote (Obama's base) the Republitards were too stupid to see that and railroaded his ass out of the convention.

Lets see, Mr. Romney and Republicans in general worked to alienate women, Blacks, Hispanics, the young, the non-rich, and more--and those groups exceed 50% for SURE.

Most of your own list is wrong, and a lot of voters knew it even though you folks kept repeating those things over and over. Basically, the economy is better (in particular, on your first point, the stock market has completely bounced back), taxes are lower, Mr. Obama has expanded gun rights, NOT restricted them, and only a minority favor pro-life and/or oppose Gay Marriage.

If you believe the whole thing you are living in a dream world of partisan talking points that have been made obsolete in the real world by real world election results.

He was re-elected because his platform was more appealing to the majority of the electorate. The folly of Romney's proposal to abolish FEMA was the final nail in his coffin.
  • Sue 2012/11/17 01:48:17
Thank God he won't get a third term-unless he changes the constitution, which would not surprise me one bit.
  • beavith1 2012/11/14 20:14:09
Simple> Democrats poisoned the republican brand and the republicans didn't do the same for the democrats.

It's inexplicable when you consider how much of a screw up Obama has been over the last four years.
  • harry beavith1 2012/11/15 01:04:30
Obama defeated Romney because middle class American workers are fed up with Reganomics. We are tired of vulture capitalists like Flip Romney. Americans are sick of seeing our country bled to death by giant and profitable transnational companies. Companies that pay no taxes and suppress workers rights and wages and benefits. Americans are sick of seeing our children graduating from college owing so much debt that banksters will force them pay off debt the rest of their life. Americans are tired of seeing jobs shipped over seas. The past 30 years of Reganomics has been turning our country into a third world country.
  • beavith1 harry 2012/11/15 05:39:46
every single 'point' of yours is a democrat campaign point that was misleading or completely wrong.

the DNC thanks you for being a witless tool and re electing Obama to maintain power and to fail the nation for ANOTHER four years.
  • harry beavith1 2012/11/15 08:38:15
Hey, whatever it takes to stop the strip mining of wealth from hard working families. Whatever it takes to stop the decay of the common good. Republicans need to come back to reality. Their Far Right Extreme positions are driving their party into the ground. In the next election 2 years from now, the Progressives will take back the House as well. Cantor, the obstructionist, will not be so lucky during the next election.
  • beavith1 harry 2012/11/19 20:15:51
LOL! first sentence? another DNC meme.

thanks to democrat belief that the rich are our problem (they aren't), all they did was provide you a target. we've been living under a capital strike for the last four years (since the bust). its the equivalent of a fiscal famine. the poorer peolpe 'starve', the middle people 'suffer' and the richer people go on. if the economy were functional, everyone would eat. that 'gap' is a function of a gov;t that has failed to write laws that promote capital growth, creation or preservation.

the common good is being wiped out by democrat policies that punish capital.

i can't say what republicans need or don't need, but i can say that YOU need to get an education in economics, so that you can see the destruction for yourself.

at 50-48, neither party 'won'. it'd be fairer to say that the victor 'survived'. besides. any party that tried to fix the economy instead of institutionalizing blame won't be too bad off in two years. we'll be far worse off than we are today.

i don't know about Cantor's chances, but when the economy does, shortly, plunge, and guys like you are left wondering what happened, you got it here first.

The only barrier to a robust economy are the Obstructionist Republicans. The economy grows despite the efforts of the greedy Republicans, to make Obama fail. Republicans are driving their party into the ground. They represent only the 1% rich. Powerful lobby like NRA , insurance industry, wallstreetians, and oil companies....they own the Republicans.
  • beavith1 harry 2013/01/21 23:05:59
ummm. no. not by a long shot.

    that's democrat campaign strategy blamecasting.

its good to see that you bought it, hook line and sinker, though.

it restores my faith in idiots that don't understand what they are saying.

YOU'RE the kind of person that i'd love to see laid off, when the economy tanks, and you're left holding your dick wondering 'why you?'
  • harry beavith1 2013/01/22 12:23:29
Thank good. That you and others that have been brain washed by FOX So Called News and idiots like Rushy Limpbald and Crazy Drug Head Beck, are in the minority. These Oligarchs have you supporting legislation that gives the Pludicrats the freedom to strip mine wealth from hard working families and decay the common good.
  • beavith1 harry 2013/02/13 06:02:58

no, no and no. first three guesses? all wrong.

I sure hope the Republicans vote No for sequestration. Since They are the party of NO, this would be a good thing. We need to continue funding research. for a cure for Greeds Disease. You should seek out help for your condition.
  • beavith1 harry 2013/02/17 19:33:31
seeing that Obama has seen the light and now thinks sequestration is a bad idea, i imagine they'll vote for it.

you should work on that ignorance thing. that way, you'd be able to spot when you a re being played. like now.
  • harry beavith1 2013/02/15 12:58:56
Hmmmmmm another positive jobs report came out yesterday . The private sector continues to add 250,000 jobs per month. The real threat to the economy is not the government debt. It's the Trillions that the private sector are in debt. The middle class can only buy on credit. Thanks to Reaganomics the middle class continues to work harder and longer hours for less pay and benefits while the Oligarchs continue to strip mine wealth and stash their cash in Swiss bank accounts
  • beavith1 harry 2013/02/17 19:39:05
    positive? boy. you'll believe anything.

those are even more anemic numbers.

the real threat to the economy is an insane easy money policy that has doubled M1 in 5 years.

the 'middle class' is a political cudgel for the democrats. it allows them to justify anything they do. the equivalent of 'its for the children,' even though these clowns are spending our children's wealth for our comfort today.

You are absolutely right but this beavith guy will never admit it becaue he has been convinced that Reagan was some sort of God. Plus most of the people in here may not be old enough to have been in the work force when Reagan came in.
  • fcgrif beavith1 2012/11/27 11:46:39
The Republicans poisoned their own brand by thinking their rich buddies could muster votes, and they couldn't. People learned years ago that trickle down economics like the GOP pushes doesn't work. The sooner the GOP throws the tea party members back in the harbor the better off they will be.
  • beavith1 fcgrif 2012/11/28 06:19:14
jezuz. more empty DNC campaign rhetoric.

can any of you guys say anything that hasn't been cleared BY the DNC?

do you even understand what you're saying?
  • fcgrif beavith1 2012/11/28 12:03:02
Hmmm the GOP members of congress get the message they are bailing on Grover. Why is it so hard for you?
  • beavith1 fcgrif 2012/12/05 23:18:25
i don't need boogeymen like you to see how bad things are. i can see a failing economy and a failing political process brought on by democrat diseconomic policy.

raising taxes now, on anyone, is economic suicide, no matter what your masters tell you.
  • harry beavith1 2012/12/19 04:09:59
Well, we are about to find out if you are right on your statement. Cause taxes will be going up on the so called Almighty Job Creators.
  • beavith1 harry 2012/12/24 06:14:39
and more people will be thrown out of work AND going on food stamps.

sounds like raising taxes is going to leave us worse off...
  • harry beavith1 2012/12/26 22:40:05
You must believe everyrhing you hear on main stream media.

  • beavith1 harry 2013/01/21 23:08:25
almost nothing that i talk about is part of the main stream media. if everyone focused on simple economics, most of the blather would go away.

problem is, most folks have zero basic understanding OF economics. they have this stew of misinformation and misbeliefs that desperately cling to.

even as we circle the drain.

its quite fascinating and frustrating at the same time.
  • Ken 2012/11/14 19:12:46
You are correct - well over 50% of Americans were against Obama and in favor of Romney. Obama's win can be explained in two words: "Voter Turnout"

The latest party preference poll by Rasmussen in October, 2012, a very accurate poll with a very large sampling, found that 39% of Americans were Republicans, while 33%+ were Democrats, giving Republicans a 5.8% edge. Among the 27%+ who were "other" or "independents", they favored Romney by double-digits, according to every single poll, an edge of between 10% to 24%, That means that Romney had a minimum of an 8% lead over Obama in the electorate! Unfortunately, conservatives and moderates don't have the union thug apparatus that the radicals do to turn out the vote.
  • fcgrif Ken 2012/12/10 08:10:56
Seriously? The election was in November I guess they were wrong!
  • Ken fcgrif 2012/12/10 20:32:49 (edited)
No, the Democrats just have a much better "get-out-the-vote" apparatus. They have the labor unions doing the heavy work, door-to-door "suggesting" that the persons go out and vote.

    Republican Democrat Other
    Oct 39.1% 33.3% 27.5%

  • fcgrif Ken 2012/12/11 12:02:53
Apparently that is not what the percentages were on Nov 7.
  • Ken fcgrif 2012/12/11 18:58:55
As I said above, the differences were in the turn out. Obama had a literal army of workers turning out every single vote for him - the Republicans, not so much.
  • fcgrif Ken 2012/12/12 11:54:53
