Why can't a marriage be between more than two people?

A proper marriage, with a piece of paper, is only a promise you make - made official to government-type people. You can make that promise, without the paper, to as many people as you want...so long as all people involved are aware of it and okay with the situation. It might as well be a marriage, all the love and support and relations of such...without the benefits and government acknowledging it.

Hey, what business is it of yours what other people choose to do so long as they aren't bothering anyone else?

Gov't should get out of the whole marriage thing! I would have been better off tax wise if my husband and I had been shacking up instead of married after they hung that "marriage penalty" on us for dual incomes.

Leave people the heck alone and let 'em do what they want.

for most people jealousy & stuff would become involved. I only want to marry one guy & I would not be able to tolerate him being with another woman.

Who im i to tell any one who 2 merry. I marrried a great man and as for us he ever tried to marry another lady, GOD help him becuse all hell will brake loss. I don't like to share.:)

I had to choose something but whats going to end up happen with this polygamy thing is the husband is going to be dissuaded from one of the wives, by means of nature. Its the same thing the Book of life states, you cant serve two masters you'll love one and end up hating the other.

Because I wouldn't want to share my wife with the neighbors, the dogs, or even a tree for that matter.

Why not marry your parents, then apply for health care for them? This is another way to beat the health care and pre-existing medical condition clause.

As long as all parties are consenting adults and agree to the terms I don't see a problem. But I've seen Big Love and it didn't look fun.

I did to. After about two years of marriage, my ex went on a "all you could eat diet" and became a big love.

Adding more people to gang up on you when you are wrong or when you make a mistake. Hmmm......doesn't sound very fun. Marriage is hard enough with out adding another partner to get or be jealous over. Especially if one gets or gives more attention to the other. Someone is bound to be left out. Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. But then again, if I wanted a massage from my husband and he wouldn't give it to me, then maybe I could have another husband that his profession is a masseuse and then he could rub me down! :) JK, I'm actually to greedy to ever have to share! Why should I!

I couldn't imagine not being in the mood, and then having two men probe me because they are. Or having another woman in the relationship and having my husband spoil her more than me, or preferr to have sex with her over me. Or say I'm pregnant and the other one isn't. I couldn't be the fat one in the mix, it would just make me cry!!! Or say she could have children and I couldn't. Sounds like a huge jealousy battle to me. NO THANK YOU!
