Agreed, "treason" is usually defined as a betrayal of one's OWN country. It's sometimes used in the more general sense of a "betrayal", but I'd say the word is not used properly in this context.

Of course, expecting people like Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck to use words properly is a lost cause.

That whole thing is a campaign to cover lies. In fact in this case, all government seem to agree that the truth is not good for them. I wonder if this will end in an official ordered assassination of Assange. I am afraid it will.
