Why are liberals so easily offended but very quick to be offensive and expect nothing to be said in return?

Agree or Disagree? Not trying to 'offend' Mr. Beckel, but I think the commentary of this show in particular is a great example of my point to be made. (If I had to choose one democrat to be my favorite... Bob).

I see that daily here on SH and I've done enough checking to prove that our little microcosm is very representative of the nation, well at least the thinking ones. But last night obama proved all the sass, jokes and cruel comments made about him over the years were completely true...liberals can't defend stupid.

Gonna be real quiet on SH for the next few days...no wonder there's a shortage of diapers.

Are you kidding? So quick to be offended?

In answer to poverty, Newt offered a program that would violate child labor laws, but he didn't see the need to get offended.

In an answer to a balanced budget, Mitt offers to cut funding to PBS, which is less than one percent of the budget and affects many rural stations' ability to offer programming, but he didn't see the need to get offended.

Rick Perry makes an ad that portrays gay marriage as some sort of "wacky nutjob" idea that's counter to what the country stands for, and people aren't supposed to get offended?

There are Republican Senators ON THE SCIENCE COMMITTEE that say that "evolution, embryology... are straight from the pit of hell" and that he uses THE BIBLE to determine what he does AS POLICY IN OFFICE, and there's no need to be offended?

Yet, when there's a mention of global warming, taxes under 8 percent, bad polling numbers, or anything else that the RWNJs don't support, it's not only offensive, but part of a government coverup?

If anything, it's the GOP that's offensive and expect nothing to be said in return. When something IS said in return, they only counter with responses that are as cold and resentful to the poor and middle class as can be, but don't expect anyone to reply.

Sorry, but the shoe's on the other foot, when we're talking about people being offended by truth and facts. I know all too much about that, by talking to guys on SH that claim to be republicans.

    1) don't know what you're talking about.. please provide an article to explain.

    2) it was an example of unnecessary spending that is at epidemic proportions in this country and should be cut.

    3) gay marriage is an opinion of opposing views that the country is divided on, i would hardly say that the country "stands for" it.

    4) a FACT is that this country was founded on the principals of the Bible. that is a FACT, in fact. I'm DEEPLY offended that anyone would LIE and say anything contrary to this truth just to advance their own agenda.

    5) global warming is a government cover-up? haven't heard that one, but thanks.

    6) I wasn't particularly speaking of the GOP or the DNC... more of the liberal versus conservative mindsets.
if a conservative has anything to say contrary to a liberal ideal, they are... racist, haters, sexist, backwards, ignorant, rwnjs? i still dont understand what that means... but i assume it an insult. just insult over insult, it never ends... i don't like to be called names therefor i rarely call people names.. it's not nice.. especially when just speaking a perspective.
some conservatives do this also.. but i think it's safe to say that liberals are much faster to throw the moron/racist card than a conservative mind.
this being because most conservatives do believe the Gospel and believe in good manners... you know the golden rule, all that good bit... liberals (most) do not.

    i appreciate your input.

    2) You don't answer a question on how to eradicate the debt, which measures IN TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS, by pointing to spending that's less than one percent of the overall budget. That's like telling someone you're going to tear down a house with rain. He should've pointed to the LARGE MONEY EXPENDITURES that he would use in order to shut down our debt, but... he didn't have any. If he had better examples, he would've used them.

    3) You would hardly say that the country is in favor of civil rights legislation? OK. That's your opinion.

    4) I take it you don't know what "separation of Church and State" means, but in governing using only the BIBLE as your compass, you're not promising to uphold the statute that this country IS BASED ON when it was called on to 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.' You can't have people calling EVOLUTION a thing sent up from the gates of HELL... ON THE SCIENCE COMMITTEE, and expect a real scientific support from the federal government, now can you?

    5) Your argument is only one side of the coin. I can guarantee you that the conservatives do much of the same as I've been the target of such. But, to be honest, conservatives do hold certain views that are conside...

    5) Your argument is only one side of the coin. I can guarantee you that the conservatives do much of the same as I've been the target of such. But, to be honest, conservatives do hold certain views that are considered racist, and don't care.

Notice all the hate on welfare recipients, which make up 6 percent of the budget, yet are getting dragged out into a debate about American debt, like they caused it all by themselves. Seems like someone just wants a scapegoat. Who happens to make up a very large percentage of welfare recipients?

Notice all this talk of "illegal aliens" ruining the country. Mind you, those illegals have jobs, pay local taxes, have children that get better jobs due to their education and pay even more local taxes, and shape a very large part of America, but... to the conservative, they are all criminals. Yet, most of them have done nothing to break any laws, but cross the boarder without paperwork. If you break a law and don't get caught for it, are you a criminal, with this horrible crime extending throughout your family line forever until you atone for your sins? I'm not sure how that works. But a conservative happens to think that anyone looking like a person that might've broken the law is subject to another set of rules, where they can be harassed to prove their country of birth upon request and see nothing wrong with it. That's not only insensitive to the issue of the matter, but illegal.

Who is it that's always trying to attack Affirmative Action wherever it is? Conservatives.

Who is always wondering why they have to be politically correct when talking about people of other races that aren't white? CONSERVATIVES.

It might just be that they are insensitive and racist. It might be that they espouse racist views, but don't like the moniker. But, trust you me, they are out to offend and think it insane that anyone should react in kind.

"Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between Church and State." --Thomas Jefferson, 1802.

When I called someone on it once they called me a "prude" and "uptight", while I simply stated that a debate didn't require calling people names or resorting to foul language needless that was the end of the discussion

They aren't interested in the truth or facts. They only want to hear brief statements and something that they can factcheck quickly to discredit instead of actually going to a real site and reading or looking at numbers. I had one Liberal post 10 graphs to me while I explained each one away, he called me the idiot instead of reading the numbers from Government websites.

In school the teachers are usually liberal and only slam conservative speech.
This leads the students to follow the teachers' model and fully expect to be treated the way questioning students treated their teachers with deference.
But sooner or later reality pops up and they don't know what to do except panic.

I agree --- easily offended and quick to be offensive. Take yesterday's The Five show where they were discussing the murder of Ambassador Stevens and that the evidence coming out is that the State Department did not do their job in protecting the Consulate or the Ambassador, Mr. Beckel demanded 'proof' before he'd believe it, not information from unnamed sources within the Government. But I seem to recall he defended Harry Reid's statement very strongly, that Romney didn't pay taxes for 10 years because Harry had an unnamed source. I wish he'd explain why one 'unnamed' source is okay to believe and another is not.
