Why are gas prices falling?

The news has been all a twitter about "experts" saying we could expect gas prices to continue to fall 50 - 55 cents in the next few weeks and months. And while I welcome the relief I can't help but notice that no-one is saying why gas prices are falling.

The price of the barrel has come down significantly. But the Libyan civil war that led to the spike is not over, but stalemated. Libya's production has not increased. Civil unrest in the middle east continues. Lebanon and Israel are at it again.

China hasn't slowed down on their consumption of oil and the United States is about to enter the summer months where the more expensive "oxygenated" brands of Gasoline will be brought to the pump and demand will go up for summer driving.

So why the decrease? Do you feel like you are not getting the entire story? Something isn't right.
