I thought we stood for sound fiscal conservatism..why would we let dumbass liberals bully us into compromising our values?

Conservatives are NOT caving... some Republicans are... some RINO Republicans... too many of them are just as 'progressive' as any 'progressive' big government Democrat... THAT is the problem, figuring out who is who... and REMEMBERING two years from now.

There is a big difference in a conservative and a politician. A politician is, first and foremost, a politician - he will say or do anything to keep his job and his status in the D.C. social circles. The next elections are 2 years away so they have plenty of time for the dumb minions to forget. The reason they do it is because we are not storming their offices with ropes and pitchforks. By the time people have had enough there will be no more elections.

Personally I'm not against going back to the Clinton tax rate for everyone, however the reality is that they will increase for the rich and not for those earning under 250,000!

Obviously in order to pay down the debt there will need to be more gains made on the revenue side than simply taxing the top 2%

I don't believe that will be the case, but let's wait and see.

I haven't forgotten that Conservatives on this site had Romney winning the presidential election by 16,000 votes to Obama's 1,700.

The poll in no way reflected reality!

Mind you if we go over the fiscal cliff which is a distinct possibility all kudos to you, for taxes will increase for everybody.

A possibility which doesn't faze me at all!

Do you mean the Republicans in congress? Because they don't want to have their fingerprints on the mess that will ensue as Obama continues down the road to economic chaos and destruction. The GOP should stop fighting and just withdraw from the debate.
Let them have their stupid tax hikes - they won't do anything anyway, and taxes will go up one way or the other.
It's time to let the Democrats self-destruct. Their objective is to destroy the Republican party so there will only be one party - like Venezuela or Iran. Don't think it isn't true.

Something that Conservatives should really be worried about but aren't for some bizarre reason is the amnesty issue. If they let the business interests and political hacks pass Obama's "immigration reform" agenda then it will backfire spectacularly for them. Admittedly, by now I'm inclined to think the system is going to collapse regardless at some point and conventional politics is a dead end but still...
