Can someone please explain this whole thing to me? I keep seeing polls about 'STOP THOSE LIBERALS FROM TAKING CHRIST OUT OF CHRISTMAS" but really, can someone point to me who exactly is doing it?

Because from what I keep seeing, no one wants to exclude Christ from christmas, but department stores and malls etc want to INCLUDE people of all faiths in their well-wishes of the season.

You see, when a person lives their own life in an un-christian way, they are directly attacking the christian right to force their beliefs on everybody else.

I don't know, it confuses me too. I think it's people who are either insecure of their beliefs, or feel that they need to fight for their beliefs for whatever reason they can nit-pick.

Are we taking him out of Christmas, or out "for" Christmas?

Actually, they're mad at us seculars who may have written "Xmas" instead of "Christams" on cards.
ANd you know "Happy Holidays" actually means "Down with Christmas"

I don't remember anyone in the bible ever saying anything along the lines of "Thou shall force thy beliefs upon others."

I'm a Christian (Protestant), but I'm not gonna try and force anyone into Christianity.

What about religion-based laws, like banning homosexual marriage, or preaching the bible in public schools?

Banning homosexual marriage: Well, by the definition of marriage, it's not really possible for two men or two women to be married. (Marriage is defined as "The formal union of a mac and a woman, typically recognized by law, by which they become husband and wife." At least, that's what it says in the dictionary.) However, I'm not going to inhibit them from having a relationship similar to marriage.

Preaching the bible in public schools: No. You can talk about the bible/christianity, but no preaching. That, in my opinion, is violating the children's freedom of religion.

See, I don't hate the gays at all, but I do agree with where you said "a relationship similar to marriage." I think non-Christians and gays should do their own sort of union. It's up to the Christians of who can and can't get married. That's the way I see it however. But a legal bond, a union should be a different story, and should be allowed for whoever wants that union.

There are homosexual Christians. Now, I'm not one of them, but I'm not necessarily heterosexual either... I'm asexual.

God does say that he hates homosexuality, but I don't remember anything about hating homosexuals themselves. It's a sin, but like any other sin, God is capable of forgiving it.

Yes God only hates homosexuality and not the person but just because there's forgiveness doesn't mean you can continue to sin knowing what your doing is wrong and expect at the end of the day you get forgiveness to turn around and do it again the next day.God sees your heart you have to truly want it and want to change.

Nobody is trying to take the Christ out of Christmas. That's just another silly lie perpetuated by the right wingnut media during the last few years of the Bush Administration to deflect attention away from how badly the GOP was killing our Country.

Nobody with a brain swallows the lies of the right.
