Palin didn't answer the questions. She blatantly said that she didn't want to argue what caused global warming....but that was the question. She went on to say what she'd do to help stop/slow down global warming.....but how the hell is she gonna do that if she doesn't believe that it is mostly man made.....if it isn't man made...then there isn't anything she could do about it. Also, what is her achilles heel? She didn't answer. Palin made up her own questions so she could make up her own answers.

I think Sarah did well enough to keep the base fired up. But I do not think it was a home run for her. Her supporters will chant she did great. I think that the way she refracted everything back to her so called energy policy was interesting. And how many times did she say maverick about McCain. I was very pleased when Biden called her out on that. I though Biden did well. I don't think it was a home run either. He trumped her on foriegn policy, which I think everyone expected. Overall I give them both an A. But ultimatly I felt Biden connected a lot more than Palin did, threfore I feel he won.

Palin did OK, a little scattered, but OK. I expected much worse after her disastrous interviews. Biden showed extensive knowledge about all the issues while Palin spoke more about feelings and vague notions about what they plan to do. None of that showed her to be qualified. I heard nothing from her that tells me they will pursue anything, but the same failed policies of the last 8 years. All she said was that they plan to work for the middle-class, meaning more tax breaks for the wealthy and the hope it will trickle down.

But that is a failed outlook which has continuously redistributed little gains for the working class to the very wealthy and at an unprecedented rate for the last 8 years. The previous 8 years before Bush brought an increase for the average working families of $7000 per year on average. During Bush’s 8 we have seen working wages lowered over $2000 per year while the dollar value plummeted, prices skyrocketed with everything from groceries to gas and yet, McCain and Palin think that is just fine and plan to do more.

You can look for yourself, at the plan that Biden spoke about, but it’s clear to me who will fight to bring fairness back to America and restore our middle class.

    Not even close. Biden.

Joe Biden, more than anything else, did one very simple thing that Scary Failin didn't do...not once. He ANSWERED THE QUESTIONS.

Failin didn't answer one question, she simply gave the closest rote response that she was trained to give in Debate Camp.

Anyone who can go to the polls and vote for Miss, "Doggone it, we're gunna git in dere and roll up our sleeves, I tell ya".....has a freakin screw loose.

If you "answer the question" and your answer is incorrect, is doing so better than not answering at all? (some folks call that a lie at worst and being misinformed at best... then, there is being a politician...) BTW, I don't think that people will be going to the polls to vote just for Palin. Last I looked, she is the VP. I think anyone who would vote for the Socialist the Democrats have put on their ticket have more than one "freakin" screw loose. If you think Government has done well and we need more of it, go ahead and vote Obama/Biden. The Federal Government needs to get out of citizen's lives and has a VERY limited role. It is really sad that so many people believe the purpose of the Government is to take care of them. Good luck to them!

Palin hit a home run, even Biden more less admitted it at the end in his closing speech.
He said he was taught by his dad , that if you get knocked down, get back up and try again, He well knew he had got knocked down . Check the fact sheets and he had at least 10 statements wrong. Sarah is so real, cool, warm. intelligent, she just steals your heart and makes you feel proud and safe to have her as the next VP and then the 1st
    USA woman President.
The Media will disagree, but people see right thru their Liberal Propaganda.

Demanding intelligence and substance from elected officials is not Liberal Propaganda. McCain chose a female conservative and is forcing her on the nation. Likable and cute do not make for a good choice for a CEO, not to mention the VP. Her comment that she wants to increase the VP power in Congress should make you feel concerned, not proud. She can not answer questions beyond her trained responses and will continue to avoid a real news conference. We do not need another 4 years of an administration that is unwilling or unable to speak WITH, not TO the public.

Yeah. Everything you people don’t like is because of liberal media and liberal propaganda. How about the fact that she’s completely unqualified to be much of anything other than governor of a state with a population one third the size of Brooklyn?

You people are overly paranoid which is probably why you cling to your guns.

  • fluer ntech 2008/10/03 21:08:56

He did not clean her clock. This was supposed to be a slaughter and it was at worst a draw. I think she appealed to the everyday joe on the street more and in this environment where we mostly want to throw the bumbs out she held her own. He made points but so did she and that is not what we were led to believe we were told repeatedly she was fluff. Not true. She was prepared and articulate and it we were led to believe she was pure American and appealed well enough. So if a tie is a low bar then they both met the low bar. Your guy tied her so how low did you set the bar?

Joe Biden won on substance. Palin was sometimes actually incoherent - not much of a surprise. When she clearly had not rational answer, she would change the topic to energy - about which she knows very little - but the myth is that because Alaska has deposits of oil and gas, she is an expert. Like she is an expert because there is an island in the Aleutian chain from which one can see Russia. She, however, has never been to that island and so she lies when she implies she has seen Russia from her back yard - even as a metaphor and I doubt she knows what one is.

The only difference that it makes is the fact that the chances of Palin becoming President is significantly greater than would Biden. Do I want Palin as my President? No, No, No. She may be a great hockey mom but President of the USA, not even close. I know it might be “awesome” for her but not for me.

    a tie. both did well.

palin is a journalist by trade. that gave her an edge. there were no gotcha questions thrown at her as she was hammered on by the media.

biden's years of public service was his edge. he did not stumble.

Biden won hands down. He had the facts and history on his side plus he has a smooth speaking style even when he was obviously towing the Obama party line. Palin came off as a timid amateur parroting rehearsed talking points and sound bytes. Her "down home" folksy mannerisms came off as kind of stupid.

Palin managed not to implode...which I guess is a kind of victory for an unqualified church lady thrust into the national spotlight. This debate was hyped into a national spectacle similiar to the super-bowl. Rather than being a forum for real debate, it became an opportunity for both candidates to spout the tried and true one-liners of their respective candidates.

It was hard to tell. So much rhetoric and "he said-she said" stuff that is hard to verify the actual facts of it because of the complexities of Congress.
They both seemed sincere. But Sarah Palin gave me the impression she is going to find out how Washington works and actually try to reform it and she doesn't give a rat's ass who won't like it.
