I have been watching presidential debates since Carter vs.
Reagan. That year I voted for Reagan, which was my first election voting. Carter
was a lame duck appeaser although a very nice man. Reagan had what the country
needed at the time, which was vision. Although he was an idealist, I find an
idealist is much more interesting then a realist, why? Reality is usually
boring. Reagan spoke of exploring space and beating the Russians, both
great ideas. We ended up beating the Russians and having a great Shuttle
program, which taught us a bit more about space travel. The stock market also
moved much more then it did in the last 25 years prior to Reagan's 2 terms.
Reagan cut taxes and created a more competitive edge in the world for American
companies to prosper.
Bush senior was an OK president but Clinton
was a great leader unfortunately his time in office was plagued with
allegations of sexual misconduct. I remember one day I was in the Knicker
Bocker bar in Manhattan having a
few whiskeys, and Clinton was on
telling the world that he did not have sex with Monica Lewinsky. I made the
comment that JFK is probably laughing his head off up in heaven at all this. To my surprise Jacky Kennedy's cousin happened to be sitting next to me and both of us had
a good laugh at it all.
President George W Bush was a good president as well; he was very affective at
destroying Al Qaeda and helped us win two wars. If he were the president during
Vietnam it
would have been a very different out come I am sure.
Anyway, my favorite president was Franklin Delano Roosevelt whom was way before my
time, but I am a World War 2 buff so I cannot help but love Roosevelt.
General Douglass Macarthur would have been the greatest president in history
but unfortunately, he was not nominated. Why? Because we needed an ultra tuff
president after WW2, not an appeaser. Truman’s bad decisions lead to Korea
and Vietnam.
Letting Russia
take Eastern Europe was ridiculous and letting China
go to the communists was ten times more ridiculous. Both wars would have been
avoided if we backed Chiang Kai-shek. Mao was a hard-line communist that
was backed by the Russians; I will go as far as to say that he was a puppet of
the Russians at first but later became very independent of them.
In closing JFK was a great man and some maniacs robbed this country of what would
have been a great president or presidents. I say maniacs because RFK would have been even
better then his bro John. God be with both men.

The Elitist Libtard SodaJerk 2012/06/28 00:14:50President Franklin Delano Roosevelt+5Roosevelt was bold and unafraid. He put country first, he didn't care if his decisions pissed off his base. He had an idea, He sold it to the people and he dragged congress kicking and screaming through the process, and in the end everybody found out his idea worked. We Loved F.D.R. so much we said "Screw term limits"

reply - Bob, the reasonable one 2012/06/28 14:27:51President Ronald Reagan+2Reagan was the necessary breath of fresh air, he was positive experience. For years this country was in the doldrums both economically and morale..the economy was on the skids since Nixon. Carter was an embarrassment and he blamed the American people for the malaise in the country...Reagan was a positive force, he talked about the future in an optimistic way, while the democrats talked about limits to economic growth and the need to always raise taxes and for government to control our lives more....the difference was never better illustrated in the election of 1984 when Reagan won every state with the exception of Minnesota and the district of columbiareply

Uncle Ron the start of the present day republican party where conservative principles were tossed under the bus. But even Reagan would not be accepted by today's phony conservatives. Reagan had a couple of principles. He was willing to reverse course to a certain extent if it was not working. (He increased taxes a number of times)reply -
President Franklin Delano RooseveltI think General Douglass MacArthur would have been one of the great presidents had he been elected, but the people were scared of him because he dared say he would use Nukes on the Chinese and Russians. The Russians starved millions of Ukrainians to death during the Stalin years and provided guns artillery and advanced weapons to the North Koreans and North Vietnamese, which were used to kill American soldiers, so I have to appreciate what MacArthur wanted to do, which was to destroy communism and tame Russia who became a greater evil then could have been imagined, same for China. Also remember that Russia sided with the Nazis attacking Poland and murdering many innocent people. Russia if not attacked by the Nazis may have sided with the Nazis.reply

the United States, the modern Thanksgiving holiday tradition traces its origins to a 1621 celebration at Plymouth in present-day Massachusetts. There is also evidence for an earlier celebration on the continent by Spanish explorers in Texas at San Elizario in 1598, as well as thanksgiving feasts in the Virginia Colony.[8] The initial thanksgiving observance at Virginia in 1619 was prompted by the colonists' leaders on the anniversary of the settlement.[9] The 1621 Plymouth feast and thanksgiving was prompted by a good harvest. In later years, the tradition was continued by civil leaders such as Governor Bradford who planned a thanksgiving celebration and fast in 1623.[10][11][12] While initially, the Plymouth colony did not have enough food to feed half of the 102 colonists, the Wampanoag Native Americans helped the Pilgrims by providing seeds and teaching them to fish. The practice of holding an annual harvest festival like this did not become a regular affair in New England until the late 1660s.[13]reply - ..::loc... Christian 2012/06/28 03:10:21
