I'm from Massachusetts and our Governor is Deval Patrick. He's in his second term now and he's been a good governor so far.
But let me tell you about our former governor Mitt Romney.....
During his campaign for governor, he promised to lower our taxes. He lowered them all right but only for his wealthy buddies. Then he imposed all kinds of new fees and raised existing fees to cover the shortage left by the tax cuts for the wealthy.
He promised he'd be a job creator....Mass dropped from 37th to 47th in job creation during his tenure.
He promised to reduce our deficit and instead added over one billion dollars to our existing deficit.
The only good thing he did was to create "RomneyCare" our state's universal coverage plan. Everyone can be covered and so far it's working well and people here like it. Unfortunately, it's the one thing he cannot take credit for since it would be taken as an endorsement of Obamacare and he couldn't do that because the far right GOP is against it. If he was honest, he would say, you know what, Obamacare is a great program very much like what I instituted in MASS and I support it fully. But he is too much of "company man" to go against his party even for something that's been proven to be a success. Makes you wonder whose side he's on. Certainly not ours.
Who is your Governor ? Do you think he would make a good president ? Mine sure wouldn't

First he made the mistake of accepting money from the Feds to use an existing HOV lane and make it toll, now he put his signature on TSPLOST which, if passed, will not help our commute times in the state and take $8 billion of our money over the next 10 years all for the purpose of making the tax permanent.
I have already decided I will not vote for him again. He is a true RINO, ready to steal from the folks in a heartbeat.

They are holding a protest "drive" on the 21st (I think). They want everyone to meet, and drive the speed limit around 285 in the center lane, with their headlights on to protest this horrible TSPLOST!

Anyway, the point is that the Feds should not be offering the states $$ in the first place. What is the reasoning behind that?
It might depend if you lost your home to a flood or fire and the state being cash strapped where you live had absolutely no funds to assist you in your devastated neighborhoods. Its always easy to sit back and quarterback about the nast feds until you need them.
Amazing what happens when you finally realize how horrible your liberal beliefs are, isn't it? When it does bite your ass, you'll finally change, but guess what...it'll be too damn late to matter.
Good luck when the Government Bureaucrat tells your loved one they can't have health care because THEY decided you (or your loved one) gets rationed out.
