Obama spins the numbers left, you spin them right. What's the difference?

When Obama took office in Jan. 2009, the economy was shedding 800,000 jobs per month. And the graph was still plummeting downward. The minute Obama moved into 1600 Penn. Ave., the graph reversed direction. It took Obama over a year to drag the job numbers back into positive territory because they were buried so deep by the previous administration. Result: Obama lost almost as many jobs in his first year as Bush did in his last. The difference is the direction of the graph. Since the end of the Great Recession (generally pegged at June, 2009), the economy has created some 4.5 million jobs (the number the Democrats are touting), to bring Obama back to break even in 3.5 years. And last month was the 23rd consecutive month of job gains under Obama.

One could go on to discuss the quality of the replacement jobs, counter the dropping unemployment rate by noting much of it is due to people dropping out of the job market, and on and on. There is plenty of room to spin in either direction.

For example: Obama has been clear that he has created 4.5 million jobs SINCE MID-2010, and does not limit himself to non-farm payroll numbers. Why? It makes his record look better than it is.

Conversely, you attempt to stretch his claim out over the entirety of his time in office, and insist on only talking about non-farm payroll jobs.Why? Because it makes Obama's record look worse.
