Got into a debate with a religous person over this...Who is in control? IF God is in control, explain please, does this mean we are robots who are not responsible for our own actions or does it mean that we are in control and ask for a consultation with God!

Ultimately, God is in control. Yes we have free will and the choices we make are our choices, However.....If you have a personal relationship with God, you make your choices and decisions based on that relationship, you are choosing to do God's will. If your not listening to God then you have made the mistake of thinking you yourself are in control with the final word, which truthfully is only temporary. Your life is well planned but you must be listening. So, God needs a 2 x 4 now and then with this one.

God made me and His greatest gift was free will,if I make wrong choices it's my fault and if I do good stuff it's to my credit God made me to know Him, love Him and serveHim and to be happy in this world and in the next

God grants us free will, therefore, we alone are in charge of our
decisions and therefore deserve the consequenses of our actions. That
doesn't mean that God does not intervine in our lives from time to time
    to help us out.

Right now I think my grandchildren have the most control. I can take back control when I feel the need. My husband is the one person that doesn't try to control me, "because he knows he can't". My kids try to stay neutral most of the time.

Our lives are PREDESTINED! I still mess up at times....ok...many times...but My Lord still has control ultimately over the enemies hand on my life.

Simply because God knows the outcome before it occurs doesn't make it
predestination. That would mean that if you know that your child is on
drugs and you don't force them to stop, that you are choosing for your
child to do drugs. Of course you don't, but because you have given them
free will to choose what to do, you don't force them to stop doing
drugs. That doesn't mean that you choose for them to do it, that means
that you gave them free will to decide what to do.

(smiling) I would imagine if I stopped at believing that all God is knowledge...then I wouldn't understand that his HAND is actually ON my life. When I understand that it's ORDERED ...and GUIDED...and LED....because it's his will for us ...then I understand fully what predestination is. I agree that we all have a will to choose. No doubt, however.....it's fully understanding that we don't have to mess up just because ......that we have an almighty to whom we serve with our whole heart that desires nothing but greatness for us...it helps to choose righteously...sometimes.

I guess my confusion with GOD in CONTROL of your lives, does this release you from all responsibilty and from a choice in the matter or I guess part of my question is ULTIMATELY IN CONTROL OF YOUR CHOICES? Do we make them on our own and consult "God" if we are answering GOD, or do we not have a say at all and we are not in control of our own actions and we are "robots" that someone above is controlling?
  • ARMENTHIA John 2007/06/11 15:09:03

    John,

When I say he's in control....I'm speaking from a point of ...bottomline...we're having to be accountable for our own actions and he's the one we're answering to about them. He's given us a will to choose but he's also given us his word to go by concerning those choices. No puppet strings. No robots. Just accountability and responsibility for our choices.
  • John ARMENTHIA 2007/06/11 16:25:21
    John
So you would admit YOU are in Control and look to him for guidance more than Blame Him or Depend on Him for the exact right answer? I guess I'm going through something that I am trying to figure out if he even exists. All of my family and friends are not around caring in any way! There are people physically harming me and trying to kill me slowly! They are in control of more than people understand (kind of like the mob back in the early 1900's only worse). I can't get help and after crying to God for help and no answer, I have a hard time saying He's in Control of anything. If he hasn't helped in 4 1/2 years how can I believe in him and how can I not Blame him if he exists?

Did about 6 months ago. I am having issues with the law...there are people stalking me and harming me and they won't do anything! I contacted a Senator's office and it looks like he is going to get involved YEAH!!!

Yeah, I've contacted repeated FBI, CIA, FCC, Local and state governments looking for help...they've followed me from one side of the country back up and down! NO on has helped, but the Senator's office here in Iowa seems to be ready to help!

Harkins is his last name! I wasn't here for elections, but I know his office was sending me info and are the FIRST people in over 50 government contacts willing to appear to help! The FCC told me in 2 letters they aren't responsible for communication HAHAHAHA STUPID PEOPLE :) So they report to the Senators...I went a step up and hopefully it will help :)

I do (at least I think I do) understand Johns point. Jump in here John if I’m wrong!
There are people that do regard the behavior of some as a result of satanic possession. For instance, many Christians feel that gay people aren’t born gay. It is of Satan, or promiscuous behavior.
There are people that believe that God is in control as long as they walk in his path. Submit to God's will and not yours.
There are people that feel that the influence of drugs negates personal responsibility. (IE some celebrities and congressional members that have been in the news recently.)
Well, for what it’s worth here’s my two cents. I don’t do drugs other than an occasional sleeping pill. I certainly can’t claim to be able to “control” every aspect of my life. My spouse and children do factor in that mix. I believe that God gave me my life, a (relatively) good brain and free will. Though Satan tempts me, in the end it is up to me to do right. If I have done wrong (so far at least) it hasn’t been because of my wife and / or kids. It's me (YOU) and I am responsible.
BTW John…if you do get that zillion dollars…could you spare perhaps a million or so…just till I get the right horoscope....or fortune cookie?
  • John Michael V 2007/06/11 14:18:07
