Who has the best grasp of reality, liberals or conservatives?

I've always been intrigued by the differences between liberals and conservatives and their respective thought processes. While everyone is different and it's not a black and white issue, I believe that one of the main differences is their grasp of reality. Here are just a couple of my observations, give me your take on which one and why.
1. Liberals seem to be easily star struck...they love make believe and celebrities.
2. Liberals seem to be easily swayed without much proof if they're given opinions by people they admire.
3. Liberals seem to think you can merely wish services from the government without regard to the money involved.
4. Liberals seem to believe that rights come from government and everything would be perfect if conservatives would just get out of the way.
Those are just my honest assessments, feel free to post your observations about which group you think has the best grasp on reality and why. Try to keep it above a third grade level.

At least the left isn't filled with science denying religious fanatics. Still, neither side really does much good for the country, just bicker amongst themselves.
Both have left their roots and have become social dogmas on par with religions.
The only ones with a true grasp on reality are the ones who take a step back, clear their heads, and look at the big picture objectly and realize that their opinions on life are not the only ones that matter.
I have met very few people who truly fit all stances of one side, we all can probably find ourselves agreeig with a point made by either side while still disagreeing with that same side over another issue. Another reason why the liberal/conserivitive debate is invalid is that each side is not a stagnat steriotype; I have friends who are both and are more alike then they would have thought.
Respect, not hate. Those who can accept that creed are the only ones that can grasp much of anything.
Now, to your real point. If I look at the fundamental principles of what a conservative is and what a liberal is, I clearly fall as a conservative, in theory and in practice. There are very basic ideals that define the two.
I hate no one but people who make uninformed decisions annoy me. People who vote for Obama because they think it's the "cool" thing to do, annoy the crap out of me. History is essential to understanding, without that...all you get is uninformed opinions.
I'm pro-life.
I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman.
I believe in the Constitution as written.
I believe in the Declaration of Independence where it clearly says we are given our rights to us by Our Creator, not government.
I believe that the federal government has enumerated powers.
And on and on...there are fundamental differences, to stand in the middle is to be confused and not know what you believe or why.

These we can deffinantly agree on.
But to stand ion the middle and not take a side is not allways apathy and/or confusion, I know what I belive on many cases evemn if I do not allways know why I do(Some in my family who have opossing belifes do not allways know why they belive what they do, It is often what we are raised with.); we are just looking for somthing less black and white.
I am against gun control and I belive we have migrated too far away from our constitution.
I belive all religions/spirtiualties/theism or their lack of have equal rights and stake in this country and should either make peace with eachother or just leave eachother alone.
Stem cell research is a growing feild that should be supported. I oppose long-term wellfare that can be, and often is, abused by a portion of the unemployed population.
I belive that we have enemies out there that we need to face dirrectly and that we are, and have been, beating around the bush for too long instead of dealing with them.
Anything in particular that I missed that you are curious of?
The only other thing that I think is greatly misleading is stem cell research. It was a really big issue last election. There are two separate types of stem cells, embryonic and adult stem cell. Obama funded embryonic and to this day there have been zero gains. Adult stem cells are the promise and they have never been opposed by the right. For every dollar you put into embryonic, you could have gained in adult.
What I see as middle of the road is something like trying to shut down free speech because it's something that you don't believe in or believing in regulations depending on which issue benefits you. I see a lot of opinions based on nothing other than thinking it sounds good and not looking at the consequences.
The problem is not free speech, we have plenty of that, even if some seem afraid to use it somtimes. My main issue isthat everything is over catagorized to the point where people can not get along because one is this side instead of another. I am not saying that that is all peoples' way of thinking, but I have seen it enough.
Gracie, I agree 100% with your observations and some of my own are that;
1) Liberals seem to be under the pompous illusion that their college education qualifies them as "experts" on ALL subjects, with no regard to their actual "major" in school, and the FACT that their "degree" merely proves that they are now "qualified" to "LEARN" how to actually do one of the jobs incorporated within their field of learning, AND NOTHING MORE!!!
2) Liberals appear to appreciate the U.S. Constitution so long as it benefits THEMSELVES, yet have little use for the constitutional rights of those that disagree with their ideology!!!
3) Liberals also appear to believe that laws and/or restrictions, do NOT apply to themselves, only others!!!
Truth is, after Clint Eastwood spoke during the RNC, there were many threads about that from cons (starstruck much?) Of course to most on here, they'll rant and rave that it's different...not the same thing at all. Whatever. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
and tax fairness. No political party could remain so consistently wrong by accident.
The only rational conclusion is that, despite their cynical "family values" propaganda, the Republican Party is a criminal conspiracy to betray the interests of the American people
in favor of plutocratic and corporate interests, and absolutist religious groups.
Using the business analogy, let's say the business of America was humming along nicely in 2000 -- "turning a profit," i.e., running a surplus. But the Republican economic philosophy is that "customers like low prices therefore cutting prices is good," and after the inauguration of President George W. Bush, Republicans lowered the price for government products -- by cutting taxes -- at an arbitrarily low rate below "operating costs." Imagine how this approach would affect a business in the real world. Bankruptcy would result -- and quickly.
1) Social Security has been STOLEN from by Democrats AND Republicans alike!!!
2) While it was Eisenhower (R) that sent the first MILITARY ADVISERS to Viet Nam in 1955, it was a DEMOCRAT President, J.F. Kennedy, that sent the first COMBAT TROOPS to Viet Nam in 1960!!! And BTW, it was TWO REPUBLICAN Presidents, Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford that brought us OUT of Viet Nam!!!
I won't bother proving the REST of your absolutely IGNORANT statement as LIES because anyone that wants to spend as little as 5 minutes RESEARCHING each of your LIES will easily see for themselves just how STUPID YOU ARE!!!
Spoken like a true fox bot.
Have you considered perhaps that ALL the major news media has sold their souls for money here, and no longer practice true investigative journalism?
How I know ? curiosity research and study my friend. very enlightening I can tell you..
You would be surprised how much the Internet has to offer in that..
And there are no facts in this post, only assumptions
