Jeffrey Warren of Martin Luther King High School in Riverside, California, won the scholarship awarded by the Martin Luther King Senior Citizens Club. Warren applied for the "black only" scholarship, citing that the application only encouraged blacks to apply, but didn't have any racial requirement.
King High School Principal Darel Hansen said the organization's cover letter did state race was a factor, but that information had been left off the application and was not requested when he applied.
"It was kind of funny at first, everyone was laughing. They announced it for an African American, they saw me walk up," Warren said.

No+18How are we ever going to end racism when the folks in charge keep breaking us into races? I wonder if there are any "white only" scolarships out there? Somehow, that would come across as very racist...why doesn't this?

Neither should color based pResidential elections.
I want the most Qualified. Not a leveling out of the Statistics.
Aren't the liberals continuously complaining about fairness - is this fairness or racist
This kind of thinking only divides our Nation. Gone are the days of common sense.
IMO.
You don't get something for nothing. To believe so makes YOU the liberal.
It is not just race and it’s not just scholarships. high school seniors like that boy come from high socioeconomic status families tend to already be better-prepared for college than kids from low-socioeconomic status families, that means that financial aid resources naturally flow to the high-socioeconomic status students.
Across the board, the way higher education works in America is to deliver the most resources to the people who need the least help. And the students who tend to be the most needy of scholarships are the minority. I don't know how make this any simpler.
how bright and sharp as a knife are you!!! you just proved my point. you should have kept your mouths shut, letting your mouth run off without thinking. It wasn't about his race that he received the scholarship. It was because the Institution that awarded the "merit scholarship " to him didn't factor in his his financial need when they should have.
thanks, genius.

The spin stops here.
