A Hawkins man is claiming his civil rights and religious freedom were violated earlier this year when a black man sacked his groceries and a Big Sandy grocery store owner banned the customer from the business.

People really like to bandy the phrase "religious freedom" about, don't they? Hint: when a privately-owned store boots you off of the property for being a racist prick to the employees, that's not a violation of religious freedom. Religious freedom isn't your freedom to impose your creeds on others. It's the freedom not to have them imposed on you.

Well the "white" man could've avoided all this fuss if he had considered his options:

1. Upon seeing the "black" man getting ready to bag his groceries, he could've interrupted said activity and bagged them himself.
2. He could have avoided that particular line and cashed out at another that had a "white" bagger.
3. He could have simply walked out, leaving his groceries at the cashier and shopped at another store or at another time when there might be a "white" bagger available.

We live in the land of lawsuits.

This man is very racist as he judged the man by his color and not his actions. He needs to think about how he would not like it if he were on the reverse end bagging a black mans food and then the black man decided to sue him for being white.

I rarely discuss/debate the issue at any length because it's truly a 'no-win' argument ... those who subscribe to the concept of (any) god will continue to insist on its 'truth' ... those of us who don't subscribe to the concept will continue expressing our 'bewilderment' as to how a thinking individual could believe such a scenario ... no minds will be changed ... generally, such a 'debate' deteriorates to personal berating and name-calling, a practice to which I refuse to become a participant.
