White House Will Not Release Osama bin Laden Photo: Is This a Smart Move?

I may not like it very much, but I do think that it is smart to keep it under wraps. I mean, I would like to see it, but you have to weigh the pros and cons of releasing the photo to the mass public.

If he DID release the photos, all the highly patriotic Americans would be like "HA THAT'S WHAT YOU GET, YOU MURDERER!" and feel oh so smug. Those who aren't completely cynical would think, oh, he's dead, and go on happily. More people might be content to use airplanes (barring that stupid new scanning system they have in some airports), and that inflow of $ would probably help the economy. Not to mention that it would bump up Obama's popularity status considerably.

But if it were to go wrong, then it would go BADLY wrong. If released, the photos would spread everywhere. Every time somebody saw one, they would say "Heck yeah, I remember that guy, he killed thousands of Americans but we got the (insert insult here) in the end!!" and taunt him. He's already the butt of dozens of cruel jokes. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve it, but don't people have anything better to do? Like, say, fixing our economy?

We would feel better about ourselves, but we might become cocky. Americans generally feel like we have a right to see them, but those who demand the pictures would just say that they're fakes, and that Obama was probably saving this for when his outlook was the most bleak. That would be really smart of him, but, while he IS intelligent, if he was such a freaking genius why did he wait until NOW to do it? Hmmm?

And more importantly, why did he wait until being in office for 3 years?
