White House Will Not Release Osama bin Laden Photo: Is This a Smart Move?

There wasn't a button for who gives a s&^%; but quite frankly, OBL is dead, who gives a crap about how it happened and who got washboarded over it. And to all those people who want to see pictures, you are probably the same people who rubber neck when a police officer has someone pulled over during rush hour traffic or investigating a MVA. I just have three words for you all: GET A LIFE.

This thing is getting fishier by the minute.

If he releases them, those who are criticizing him for not doing so will claim they are fake, if he refuses to release them, he is to sensitive to Muslims. No matter what president Obama does, there is a small number of people who are fixated on nullifying his presidency and will find a reason to criticize. I think it is a smart move. As smart as the move he made to catch him.

At this point I think we should just say these naysayers are glass half empty types. If their choice for president made some very bad choices, they would be praising these. When Obama does something commendable, his detractors are not happy.

Just like his birth certificate and now his schooling is being questioned. hussein is a fraud and a lier. We should be able to see photos. We paid for it. Those photos belong to the AMERICAN people not hussein obama. hussein gives little to allow trust to be built in him. Stands to reason, he is a fake. I just hope this benny thing is not.

it doesnt matter what is done now the backlash is coming and all westerns worlds better be ready for it. at the end of the day it has never mattered what has been done or said people that want to cause panic and fear will attack regardless of what we are doing. they will find any reason they want to make it seem logical but all it really is dangerous men looking for an excuse to cause heart ache.
personally i am more worried about the brits and us men and women who dont want to see the pictures and if they are released to the media you wont be able to avoid them, so why not put them onto a website where u have to prove your over 18 and they have a warning about what the pics contain and then people can make their own educated decision to see them or not. why not even put a donate button on their for a muslim charity so someone benefits from this whole thing

what REALLY needs answered is WHERE, HOW AND WHEN did they get samples of OBL DNA for this recent comparative analysis???? to confirm it was really him the powers that be HAD to have samples FROM HIM TO STATE WITH...

I would like to see them released, but I can see Mr. Obama’s point as well and it is very well taken. Now would not be a good time to release them and fuel the extremist that would use them against U.S.. At some later date, it may be more appropriate. Many people like sensationalism and gore. Those who want to see the photos are skeptics, very insensitive, or not intelligent enough to consider the implications and backlash. The President's decision is a rational and empathethic one. The President cares more about the people than glory or satisfying the skeptics who would disbelive the results even if he threw the bloody body in their faces.

I really f-ing hate not having an Other option. I definately smell something fishy going on here. First he announces at nearly midnight the bin Laden was killed, claims it was confirmed by DNA testing, then he goes and tosses the corpse into the ocean destroying all evidence before any sort of objective party could get in and check it too, and now he is refusing to show the pictures to anyone? Don't get me wrong, I don't think I would want to see pictures of someone who was shot in the face, probably really gross even after a mortician could get at it, but if those families need closure then I think that that should be up to them whether they see them or not.

If military leaders are suggesting that the President shouldn't release the photos because it will put the troops at risk, then the President shouldn't release the photos.

That is my fear, I am an Army mom and worry what this will mean for our Soldiers

I really do not care if they show the photo or not, but we have got to keep our Soldiers safe from the loonies!!

Dear one--our troops are already in harm's way. You couldn't make these m uslims want to kill us anymore than they already do. They have a mission to make the world one under their religion, and they aren't going to stop until they are stopped or they succeed.

The military works with tribal leaders in Afghanistan. What happens when one of those tribal leaders decides not to point out an IED on the side of the road, because of how they perceive the release of these pictures?
