    Freedom Tower
    Gary Devon Linger
Some have said that using the name Freedom Tower makes the tower more susceptible to another terrorist attack. I call BS. The reality is that the tower existing in the first place makes it an easy target. I question the need to build this tower to begin with. We proved a big enough point when we took Osama Bin Laden and several of his top people out in the first place. Though the tower looks nice, "I have it on my wallpaper as it is supposed to look when completed," I still question the building of said tower.

As far as the naming of the tower I find it repulsive to have the word World Trade Center or Twin Towers even connected to it. Freedom is so much more of a true expression of our nation and it's people. It is a name the symbolizes so much more in regards to what happened and how we continue to enjoy the freedoms we have. Well at least more so still than many other nations in the world.

I am not a fan of this tower because we as a nation are struggling just to survive the financial troubles that have overtaken us and it is pure waste to spend so much on this tower. The money it took to build this tower could have been used to better the lives of many people. Symbols are great and as a nation we are full of them. Is it really necessary to build yet another one to take ...

The money it took to build this tower could have been used to better the lives of many people. Symbols are great and as a nation we are full of them. Is it really necessary to build yet another one to take the place of the two we lost? We have moved on as a people for the most part. Though we will never forget the lives lost in the tragedy of 9-11 we also pay respect to those lives lost by continuing to live our lives as we always had before. Maybe we could live with more charity and love in our hearts but overall we are strong and continue to honor the memory of those lost in the tragedy by remaining strong.

We all changed but in many ways we are the same. We are vigilant and strong and those who died would see more in the way we live as opposed to the symbols we build. The same can be said for those close to us who were not part of 9-11 but parted from us in tragedy. Those people are honored more by how we live our lives after the fact. We don't erect expensive large symbols to prove some point and show how we have overcome the tragedy/tragedies that have befallen us. We do good in our lives and we continue making the most of our remaining time to live.

We may start charities as well as create groups to bring some good out of the tragedies in honor of someone close to us we lost and that is so much more meaningful than some symbol/symbols. The best thing that could have been done with the money used to build this tower would have been to use it for scholarships and charities in the memory of those we lost. The tower is not needed but to prove some point we see it being built.

God Bless America or if you are not religious than lets just say may we as a people wake up and bless this country of ours with our actions going forward.

So be it. The tower is being built and the people are paying up the wazoo for our nation to prove some point that really proves nothing. Since this tower must be built I find it in better taste to name it the Freedom Tower. It says more to me than trying to prove some point and rename it WTC One or whatever other name one wants to use to connect it to the past. The past is gone. The people lost there were part of the WTC's or Twin Towers. Those Towers are gone and this is a new era. This tower would honor those lost more by having the name "Freedom" attached to it.
