Which should be illegal; marijuana, the harmless weed, or fluoride, the proven neurotoxin?

It seems the CDC agrees that the flouride level is set too high and are recommending that the current level of 4 parts per liter be lowered to 0.7- 1.2 parts per liter.

the CDC also backs up the claims of what too much flouride can do. It seems to be the same old American problem of too much of a good thing Americans are now getting flouride from too many sources toothpaste, mouthwash, and even bottled drinks. The levels were set in the 60's when water was the only souce of flouride.

However there are also ill effects for getting too little flouride such as weak bones and teeth and in small amounts flouride acts as an anti-oxidant against cancer but in larger amounts the situation is reversed and it begins to do more harm than good. So it needs to be regulated but not made illegal.

Fluoride within safe limits is quite beneficial to our dental health. Too much of anything is detrimental.

The more I read about fluoride, the less I like it. I wonder if it could be behind the increase in attention deficit in our children. Sounds like a good suspect.

Unless you can show me a marked difference between them and the rest of Europe regarding bone density, health of teeth, fluoride 'poisoning' or what ever else you've been led to believe it causes, I can see no reason to stop using it - although fluorine is a horrible element that should be avoided in the pure form at all costs, fluoride when in water is harmless and in fact helps your teeth, the UK government is hell bent on making sure everyone's healthy to reduce NHS costs, and it fluoridates its water supply, doesn't that say anything to you?

These problems are credited with having too much fluoride in the water system, due to a variety of reasons, however, as one example, since water was fluoridated in the US, tooth decay dropped by 68% - an amount that couldn't have been caused by better dental hygiene, as many reputable sources have stated that people, especially children that drink fluoridated water have a very high resistance to tooth decay, and as long as the level is kept below 1 ppm, it is very beneficial to public health. Most problems caused, like loss of bone density and bone strength are from the days when they were working out the numbers, they thought there were negligible side effects and put high doses of fluoride in the water, causing the problems in older people and people still with highly fluoridated water.

Another problem. As previously stated, mildly fluoridated products are fine, but a line must be drawn at highly fluoridated products - some of these products are rather dangerous, yet people are complaining about safe slightly fluoridated water - something has gone amiss here.

It's not just in water or toothpaste, either. It's in tea, coffee, bread, pepsi, coke, and PROZAC.

They're naturally fluoridated though. If you're going to complain about fluoride, try and get those amounts reduced, although most of them are in small amounts anyway.

pepsi, coke and antidepressents are "naturally" fluoridated? In order for that to be true, they would have to be NATURAL products in the first place.

I was talking about the tea and coffee, I didn't notice the others, perhaps they should be the things you should be focusing on rather than harmless fluoridated water.
