    Civil Liberties

I depend on the government for certain things, and I fear the government from encroaching on my rights. Every time we give the government power to protect us or give us something, the government has to take something to accomplish this. Either it takes our money or our rights.

If we want to stop hate speech, we outlaw some forms of speech. If we want the gov't to provide healthcare, we need to pay the tax and may lose the option for private healthcare motivated by profit.

    Reproductive Freedom

While all of the political issues listed are important to me, right now the issue of reproductive freedom is first and foremost. Women should have the right to do what they need to do with their own bodies and no one should govern over that. It is ridiculous that we still have these kinds of debates...it's 2009 and it feels we are still treated like second class citizens. Totally unfair!

    Education

My passion is Education, and in particular Special Education - Obama promised to finally provide full federal funding for IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) - it's been passed since the 1970's but only about 40% federally funded - leaving the states to try to fund rest, which they can't & they don't - particularly California. My goal is to make this happen!

    Civil Liberties

Our Constitution is the greatest political document in the world. Over the past 30 years the precious protections and rights it guarantees have been severely eroded. Instead of protecting the public, law enforcement and the courts incarcerate more citizens than anywhere else in the world. Laws are made more for the benefit of powerful corporations than the citizens of this country, further eroding our rights. Benito Mussolini, the fascist dictator, stated:
"Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power."
We must stop the erosion of our civil liberties and restore what has been lost or nothing else will matter.

I do not have a job right now and with the Economy not getting any better there is little to no jobs available. Iraq is also high on my list because my husband served two tours in Iraq and i will continue to stand behind the men and women that are fighting for OUR freedom. We need to get them home! Immigration is another big issue but we won't get into that.

    Health Care

Why do I oppose the Obama Health Care plan? Well...let's see:

    1. The CBO estimated the cost will be at least $1.6 trillion! Taxes will soar...the money has to come from somewhere!!! And don't even BEGIN to tell me about efficiencies...compared to what? Social Security or Medicare with $59 Trillion in unfunded liabilities?

The Peterson Foundation calculated the federal government accumulated $56.4 trillion in total liabilities and unfunded promises for Medicare and Social Security as of September 30, 2008. The numbers used to calculate this figure come directly from the audited financial statements of the U.S. government.

    2. The current health care system will degrade in quality. Fifty million more people with THE SAME NUMBER of doctors. Something has to give...and it will be quality of care and rationing of services.

    3. The Obama plan will cover 12 million illegal aliens (that are here today) plus those that come here like steel filings to a magnet once they know they will be taken care of by the new socialistic American government!

Let's see...12 million illegal aliens X $3,000/year per person for health insurance is $36 Billion per year. That works out to $100 Million per day to cover today's illegal aliens...that Obama, incidentally, wants to offer "a path to citiz...

    4. Your private insurer will likely go out of business over time.

    Why?

Individuals and businesses can elect the government plan. Since its cheaper (due to subsidies) private insurers with a smaller "head count" (due to siphoning-off of clientele) will eventually become uncompetitive and go out of business...leaving only one option: the government-run health insurance plan.

    5. The government will then control 16% - 20% of the US economy if this plan is passed.

Want to make Obama's socialistic dream come true? Then support Obama's plan. Call me nuts, but I REFUSE!!!

    Maryland's Cruel Landlord/Tenant Laws Exposed!
    Dear Editor:

A couple known to this author recently received a letter from the slumlord they rent from, telling them to vacate the apartment they’ve shared, in downtown Elkton for 6 years, by the end of August. Knowing we have some knowledge of the law the victims of this injustice approached us looking for answers to this dilemma. Your author told them we were not certain whether Landlord/Tenant Laws in Maryland were the same as they were in New York and 0ntario, where landlords must prove just cause for a legal eviction and provide said resident 60/90 days to vacate aforementioned domicile. What we discovered was both shocking and revolting. In Maryland tenants without a lease can be subjected to what is called in legalese an “Unjust Cause Termination of Residency and asked to vacate said property anytime at the landlords discretion, with only a 30 day notice.

The Unjust Cause Termination of Residency clause clearly favours the owner of private property but, shows no respect for the rights of the individual or regard to personal welfare of the tenant. This case in point brought to our attention by people living below the poverty line, who could legally be made homeless in the very near future through no fault or wron...

This case in point brought to our attention by people living below the poverty line, who could legally be made homeless in the very near future through no fault or wrong doing, because of the wording in Maryland’s property laws, is ample evidence that something is gravely wrong in this state with regard to motivational and ethical practices in the wording and terminology employed by Maryland’s Landlord/Tenant Laws. This author asks you to write to your representative and urge them to call for reforms in this state’s Landlord/Tenant Laws.

Just like a gear, to try and turn everyone's internals.

I would have to say, that the most basic of all liberties, given to the people of the USA, is also the most neglected, at times.

It is just fine for the Recording Industry Association of America, to take 1.9 million dollars, from a working woman with 4 children, only to later pass that debt down to them, right after they get done grieving over her eventual death.

The Recording Industry Association of America is the trade group that represents the U.S. recording industry?
Words from the mouth of the beast:
“We appreciate the jury's service and that they take this as seriously as we do. We are pleased that the jury agreed with the evidence and found the defendant liable. Since day one, we have been willing to settle this case and we remain willing to do so.”

It is greatly accepted, to punish the children of those who are made example of, by the MPAA and RIAA. Millions of people in this nation download music every day, time for someone besides Apple, to make a profit off of it!

This answer is the closest...........my REAL concern is the ballooning federal bedget and the national debt. We're spending more than we'll ever have. We're going to put our children, grandchildren, and great grand children in debt as well. Until we get the finances of this country back in order, wipe out the debt, and shrink the size and scope of the federal government down to its Constitutional boundaries, then we have no business promoting or financing any more 'social' programs or imaginary wars.

    Good Evening, Ma'am,

You cannot be accused of anything except two faced political hacking. Pandering shamelessly to those that support amnesty while removing the legitimate rights of those Americans and those that chose to come to this country legally.

I've heard many make assertions that illegal aliens are choosing not to come to America because of the financial meltdown seen in America and your state in general.

That simply isn't true. More come, daily with the hope of amnesty and the help of the social programs that this administration is attempting to push on the American people.

It's votes. And you are a part of that. You are looking for votes and are looking after your own political career. Nothing more.
