Which is more truthful? Democrats are "tax and spend" or Republicans are "borrow and spend"

Both parties borrow and spend, but the Democrats also tax and spend. Since failure to tax increases the deficit, the Democrats are more fiscally responsible.

Republicans slogan should be rob from the poor to give to the rich. Every program they present gives the advantage to those people who control 95% of this country's money. While the Democrates seem to rob from the rich and give to the government.

Both have one thing in common their governance is corrupted by international corporations main that have head offices overseas, whilst you arguing about the goodies and baddies on offer by these Political parties when they are in power.

They don't give a damn about you the people they listen to their string pullers that have corrupted the system.

Tax and spend has gotten out of control at times, but it is correctable. When you go to borrow and spend (the Republicans loved to "borrow" from the Social Security Fund and NEVER paid it back). Bush "borrowed" from the Chinese to fund HIS wars. THEY will not accept "no payback", AND with interest! Yes, Obama had to borrow some also, because after Bush there was no money anywhere else! If he (Bush) had PAYED for HIS war with taxes, he would have HAD to be more careful, and we would have known what the war was costing. Taxpayer outrage would have kept a damper on him (if that's possible)! He was smart in one way (I think unintentional), NOW the taxpayer outrage HE should have felt is falling on Obama...what a shame. We may never recover from "W"s "borrow and spend".

The vast, vast majority of our nation's debt was created under Republicans. Simple fact.

Democrats are tax, borrow and spend. Look at the deficit projections under Obama - a deficit is borrowed - since he's raising taxes, and increasing the deficit he's borrowing more than the Republicans have the past 8 years.

For starters.

I don't know where you got your chart, but there are observations I'd like to make.

The president gets blamed for the budget, but Constitutionally the Legislative branch sets the budget and the president has to either take it as a whole, or veto it as a whole. The Legislature has a bigger role in setting the budget the so graph should at least have different bars for the parties chat control the legislative branches.

Secondly, the republicans are huge borrower and spenders, but they cut taxes. The democrats are huge tax, borrower and spenders as you can see in the CBO projections in this graph.

Both parties have been shown to be spenders. They may spend it on different things, but both spend. You can't deny that Republicans cut taxes - you may not like it, but they do. Both parties have to borrow to satisfy their spending.

If the Democrats were controlling spending, they they wouldn't have had to raise the Debt limit twice in the last year.

I didn't dispute his graph, just didn't know where it came from. If you look the data is the same on their graphs as my graph. The difference is mine also includes the CBO projections so the scale had to be adjusted so the deficits in 2009-2011 could be included.

And this CBO projection doesn't include Health Care.

The graph Zuggi and Skidboots used is historical and does not make projections. The question does not ask for projections. It asks for your feelings (which are usually based upon your history).

And I gave mine based on history.

Yes, the legislature should be considered, but I don't have a graph for that, unfortunately.

Your chart shows the exact point that it the majority of the increase was in one-off expenses due to the financial crisis.

I'm all for transparency. Government must be transparent.

It's going to take those of us on both sides to make them behave like they should. I'm not giving any of them a pass.

The reason for that is Obama is putting everything on the table (and in the budget), the black lines under Bush are what he WANTED us to see, NOT what actually was. The Bush wars are included in the red, NOT under the last administration!
