Pan Am. I actually liked them.
Alas.

Selecting an airline often requires choosing the lesser of two (or more) evils. So instead of asking about your favorite, we want to know which airline you hate the least.
According to a recent customer satisfaction survey by J.D. Power and Associates, Jet Blue is the least hated airline in America. The study measured satisfaction with seven key areas: 1) cost and fees, 2) in-flight services, 3) boarding/deplaning/baggage, 4) flight crew, 5) aircraft, 6) check-in, and 7) reservations.
The three airlines that scored the best on the 1,000-point scale were Jet Blue, Southwest, and WestJet—all airlines that don’t charge for checked bags.
So here are the rankings:
1. JetBlue: 776
2. Southwest: 770
3. WestJet: 733
4. AirTran: 698
5. Frontier: 694
6. Alaska: 680
7. Air Canada: 677
8. Delta: 650
9. American: 647
10. United: 625
11. US Airways: 614

United Breaks Guitars
Alas.
Really miss them.
All time favorite is SINGAPORE AIRLINES - the best,
a close second, CATHAY PACIFIC - excellent!
A few years ago I was flying from LA to Hong Kong, and the security check just took so long and was insanely personal and strict that it made me very uncomfortable. It's unfortunate. Here where I live if I'm taking flights inland, there is practically no security check at all, and out of country flights just includes a simple one minute check of luggage.
Delta is the company I hate the most, followed by United.
You can say I hate the rest of them least - I've never been on those companies.
I loathe American Airlines! I am fairly sure I'd have been happier flying Aeroflot in the old Soviet Union more!
For international Singapore Air is outstanding and Virgin Atlantic is very good!
They are wise in offering single class service that comes with individual things such as cable & music and very soon Wi-Fi. All free if you bring your own headphones. For a reasonable fee you can pay a bit more for more legroom. But even the regular seats are a bit wider enough legroom and supportive. There is no charge for one checked bag.
If you get the chance try and see!
Southwest claims that are not a hub and spoke airline - that is 100% wrong. They have huge hubs in Baltimore, Chicago Midway airport, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Denver, Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale. They have mini hubs in about 20 more cities. If I want to fly from Orlando to Sacramento, my hometown, there is not one non-stop flight. I am required to make a connection at a regular hub or mini hub.
I feel they are making a mistake to delete the Boeing 717 from their system. That aircraft has worked very well for Air Tran and result in many smaller cities being removed from the Southwest Airlines system, including Branson, Missouri. There is no that little town can support a
nearly 150 seat aircraft. Air Tran also used the small planes to operate flights during low peak times during the day - Southwest will probably reduce frequency on many of these routes.

JetBlue is my airline of choice....free little TV's with live programs, music and they are now adding Wi Fi - a very advanced system from what I have read. They don't charge for the first bag and offer great, brand name snacks and all non-alcoholic drinks at no cost. JB's service is always outstanding. I just wish they flew to more cities.
A longtime buddy of mine is an Alaska Air Captain and he misses the MD-80 (The McDonnell Douglas basis design). The Boeing 737 takes much longer to slow and has to travel more distance to comfortably reduce altitude. Also as Boeing freshened the design it lost cost saving commonality with it's siblings of more and less seating versions. Something that airlines like when the seasons or other factors change the number of bookings on a particular route. Having to change to another to dissimilar aircraft then changes pilots certifications to achieve.
