Selecting an airline often requires choosing the lesser of two (or more) evils. So instead of asking about your favorite, we want to know which airline you hate the least.

According to a recent customer satisfaction survey by J.D. Power and Associates, Jet Blue is the least hated airline in America. The study measured satisfaction with seven key areas: 1) cost and fees, 2) in-flight services, 3) boarding/deplaning/baggage, 4) flight crew, 5) aircraft, 6) check-in, and 7) reservations.

The three airlines that scored the best on the 1,000-point scale were Jet Blue, Southwest, and WestJet—all airlines that don’t charge for checked bags.

So here are the rankings:

1. JetBlue: 776
2. Southwest: 770
3. WestJet: 733
4. AirTran: 698
5. Frontier: 694
6. Alaska: 680
7. Air Canada: 677
8. Delta: 650
9. American: 647
10. United: 625
11. US Airways: 614

What about you SodaHeads? Which airline do you hate the least?

Years ago most U.S. Airlines had good service and maintenance, but none could beat foreign airlines for service, comfort, safety, and craft maintenance. I have flown Pan Am, American, United, Delta, Continental, Swiss Air, Air Canada, Air France, British Airways, Luthansa. Foreign Airlines still are far more reliable, safe, comfortable, courteous service, good food, than any U.S. Airlines.

It used to be ExpressJet, but because of our stupid energy policies, it went belly up.

Tell strawberry that US Airways, United, Continental, Delta, Southwest and Northwest were/are all safer than Air Canada based on stats from Airsafe.com

I have to say the most luxurious and hospitable flight I've ever had in my life was on Dubai Royal Air Wing. Their coach class is 10 times better than most other airlines 1st class.

I've always been treated well by Southwest. United on the other hand is the absolute worst. Arrogant from the ticket desk to the crew.

We mainly fly international. I find the Asian airlines (Asiana etc) to be the most polite and considerate. Flying from Korea to Chicago (or vice versa) is a very noticable change.

Southwest mainly cause that's basicly the only air service I use. I have been on American Airlines once and it sucked staff wise, just rude.

You can change you flight and get credit. You can sit where you like, first come first served. The employees are not authoritarian. And they carry under age children with care.

I flew Jet Blue a few days ago...I didn't know you could check 1 bag for free...I packed everything in a carry on suitcase........I think they do a hell of a good job. On my return flight, (which was only an hour anyway) the TV's were not working. They must have apologized ten times, from the Captain on down, for them not working. I thought that was pretty awesome.

I like Southwest, but have you ever watched the cable show about them? The show alone makes me not want to fly with them.....very arrogant employees! They should get some feedback on how the show portrays them. American is the worst. This year, my wife and three children to Florida. Three bags (each way under 40 lbs.) Only one free bag, had to pay $25/ea on other two bags. Nine years ago, my wife and four children were in Mexico, one child was coming down with pneumonia. I called American to get any emergency flight home for my family. They were able to get us on a flight for about $800 in additional fees. Southwest would not have charged that.

See, I get exactly the opposite. They try to do what they can, but DANG, they are dealing with a never ending river of stupid people.

I have YET to see an episode where the employees were rude or disrespectful when interacting with a passenger.

BUT I have seen a lot of dumb people trying to play the system.

Like the guy who wanted a travel voucher AND free meals, because his plane had a mechanical. Well, read that fine print holmes.

You are are right, most of them are being idiotic. I guess what I am saying is about once an episode, I see an employee who seems to be going out of their way to be difficult with a pasenger (that is what I don't like), and I mean a passenger who doesn't deserve it. MOST of them do deserve it. I have NEVER had a bad experience with Southwest. They are always very pleasant and helpful when I travel.

They don't charge baggage fess for the 1st two.....Who cares about the blah movies the other airlines show. The last time i flew on American Airlines i paid over $140 dollars for 2 bags round trip, and the air fare wasn't cheap either.
    Go Southwest....... southwest airlines

Alaska - Specifically because they are borderline rude to the morons who stand in the aisle while boarding.... What i respect about Alaska is how far they've come in 10 years as far as avoiding delays....somebody there got the message.

I wish I could have been around for Eastern, TWA, Pan Am, I heard great things about them for the most part.

Wish somebody would rescue the Pan Am name, trademark from its current home as a railroad [the operators of which being responsible for the short lived 3rd incarnation of Pan Am that operated as a no frills flying former United 727s, as well as Jetstream31s I think - used to see them flying into my home airport often during that time]
