The authorities don't want to know because if it could be proven they would have to be accountable for the waste and fraud of the program. Why not just chip the cards with receipts automatically being sent to the source of the cards. When it is recorded that steak, lobster and booze is being bought, shut down that card and go after it's owner.
    We need responsible welfare.

All of us need to know. I have know for years that welfare is full of fraud. Saw a woman spend 70 dollars on lobster at a grocery store and she used food stamps to buy it. That is just wrong

Why is it that people think that those using food stamps must be limited to only buying beans ,rice, bologna and peanut butter?Do they feel that their taxes would lower considerably if that were the case? That woman buying lobster probably could have made some more practical choices but if that's what she chooses to spend the food stamps on instead of the list most people find acceptable ,well it's really none of our business is it?

It is our business because she is spending our money.
I cannot afford 70.00 worth of lobster. Why should be able to use tax payer money for that luxury?

I think food stamps should be used for vegetables, cereal, reasonably priced meat, cheese, milk and eggs. No potato chips, pop-tarts, pop, t-bone steaks, donuts...etc.

Rice and beans are good for you, so is peanut butter.

I can't, I am..middle class. I don't get free food, money coats, cars, cellphones, housing, daycare, free school lunches, free membership to the YMCA, or free healthcare. I don't qualify for the Earned income tax, I actually have to pay income tax. It is really the middle class that has the biggest burdens. We have to budget and pay for our food and homes. For some us, there isn't much left to go to the zoo (welfare people get to for free), lobster and steak, nice coats and shoes.

I have friends in retail who witness FS and EBT fraud on a daily basis.
Many buy cases of candy, soda and bottled coffee to sell at their stores and carts. A lot of these Welfare people speak no English at all.

When I brought up the issue to a state senator he just shrugged and said that was the way it worked.
