Where does MONEY come from?

While governments may OWN the presses, they don't CREATE money, without there being CONSEQUENCES in the economy-like INFLATION. Taxes are just the MEATHOD for governments to finance themselves or redistribute wealth. Investments don't create money, they are a means of 'parking' extra money to EARN/LOSE more. The only thing I know of that makes money, in any economy, is a WORKING MAN/WOMAN!
















My guess is that money was created to abolish the barter system, that way the ruling class could get their cut.
If someone had to use some form of physical currency it could then be split and some given for work tended and the other part in the form of taxes.
So essentially it was created out of thin air to replace another mode of payment.
As Lincoln correctly stated, wealth is generated by the labor of working class men and women. Greed enters the picture when the wealthy choice to exploit labor by refusing to pay a living wage to the workers who generate wealth.
