Okay, i'm tired of hearing about this issue, so I will post once and put it to bed.
There's been so much back and forth on this that i'm dizzy.
Some
conservatives say gays can get married with all the same rights but have to call it a civil unions.
Liberals say gays can get married and call it marriage otherwise it's a Fed civil rights issue.
Libertarians are just plain tired of hearing about the issue. They believe marriage is a contract between two individuals and can be handled at the state level. The Federal govt should stay out of it!!!
And of course there are those who simply
do not care because it does not affect them personally and want to mind their own business.
Let them know America...
Where do you stand on gay marriage/civil unions??!!
To be married to the person we love.
Marriage should be based on love, not gender.
This is just one step on the evolution of the term 'marraige'. Heck you can 'marry' peanut butter and jelly in a far looser interpretation of the word - and yes, I've heard people use it in that context. People are so hung up on a single word that they forget just what they're doing to other people in the process.
As for other times in history, my chart I posted DID prove you wrong. Even the Bible itself allows for many types of marriages. In addition:

Gays can have something else, but it's not marriage.
Make up another name for it.
As long as it's something else.
Just like interracial marriages are....Which btw. were outlawed at the time about 50 - 60 yrs ago.....
You can always get Mr. Bachmann to prey the Gay and Lesbian out of people then bill the Government for his services.....
Am I wrong? After all, you gave enough of a crap earlier to firstly vote and comment, and then to get so defensive when your views were even slightly questioned...
It doesn't matter if its called marriage, its not going to effect heterosexual marriage so I don't get the idea it will
We already have it handled at the state level and its absurd. You have people married in one state but not married in another. Stupid!!
Regardless of what you believe religiously, religions should NOT have anything to do with government.
