When JFK ran for president many young people were attracted to him with a desire to SERVE our country. Are the type of people attracted to Barack Obama those who want to serve our nation, or BE SERVED by it?

    A lot of the young people attached to Obama are more about either, gimme, gimme, gimme or about giving other people stuff to bums, whereas at least many of Kennedy's young supporters seemed to be concernd withith what they could do to help.

    We now have more people who want free everything at the expense of the middle class people who work very hard. Since Obumble became the POTUS, the country has been split in half, between the blacks and the others. With so many people out of work, these people now rely more on the government to spoon feed them with free benefits, creating a very large dependency society and it is growing larger. Rather than asking what they can do for the country, now they are asking what the country can do for them, never mind that the country is more than $15 T in debt.

    I remember it well but I don't know what other young people thought or why they voted for him. I voted for Nixon because I though Kennedy was too young. Yes, you see, up to that point presidents looked like old men, so Kennedy was quite a contrast and I have been a lifelong Republican anyway.

    Your right on your comparison. It was so true when Obama and McCain faced off. Like death and sunshine looking at each other. I too voted for Nixon in 1960. With his many faults he would be a breath of fresh air compared to Obama.

    You are so i000% correct in your opinion of JFK. One problem with that was NO liberal media of any kind would report anything negative of JFK. Now 50 plus years later the worse very liberal media (many many of them) will NOT touch Obama with anything negative. True he is a family man but his policies are a disasterfor America. Why doesn't the media concentrate on his negatives but they go back 40-50 years on something trival and negative of Romney. Where is the fair and balanced reporting especially on MSNBC with their bias and radical racial views.

    The American press and the American people seem to focus on all the wrong issues. There is more bitching and fighting about trivia and nothing said about policy and politics.

    I am sick to death heating about his religion, vacations, his sex life and his wife. America people need to focus on their country not the personal life of the president. To me that is reprehensible and I have never seen that kind of name calling and disgusting behavior anywhere in the world. It degrades your entire country.

    Either you have never heard anything on MSNBC or you must be old and senile. Hate to tell you but I am also from the JFK era and maybe it can't be proved but I really believe that he was murdered by nasty ass repukes.

    The theory on his death is a mystery till this day. The Warren court found it best (I guess) to respond as they did. MSNBC is about the worse piece of crap I've heard. I listen only to get my adrenalin going and it doesn't take long. Yes I will be 80 on my next birthday having been born in 1933. Perhaps your right I never got any smarter, and I'm old but not senile yet. There are many theories on what happened to JFK. Yours can join the many out there but don't call me names because you think you are right. In some respects we are saying close to the same thing that there were other opinions on how JFK was killed. I was stationed in a high security job at the OPCON center on the day of the assination. Many many memos, messages etc came thru that day and for weeks to come.

    What's that got to do with the price of oranges, or the topic question? If you want to take a stab at it, please tell us if the type of voters Obama attracts are those wanting to serve our nation, or be served by it.

    P.S. Perhaps it's because you're from another country that it doesn't matter to you how the U.S. fares.

    It has nothing to do with where I live. I have lived in America as well and so has my daughter for many years.

    I was replying to a completely ignorant question about the attractiveness of a man and his ability to lead a country. The attractiveness of a man has nothing to do with his ability at all to lead or serve.

    My dad was at Ft. Bliss and was supposed to be on parade for Jack the next day. My parents still talk about it a lot.

    We visited the Dallas spot where JFK was killed. The building held our interest but it gave me an eery feeling. I'm a die hard Republican but this was beyond the pale. Do your parents remember where they were the moment it was announced? I was in the Navy going to work in a very highly classifed job and that night was very interesting (1963)

    Well it was 48 plus years ago. You probably were very very young. My wife always ironed my whites and then my CPO shirts. Would never have thought to sent them to be laundred. You might say we were forced to be frugal with the wages in those days in the military.
    PS...do you still have the rocking horse? It would be valuable. Believe it or not we still have the toy box and using it that we bought for our first sons first Xmas in 1956. Now the great grand children are using it.

    It was a black and white mustang, plastic on a metal quadpod. When I was young it had a drawstring and spoke it's name. That horse lasted thru four kids and at least ten grandkids, not to mention cousins and friends, before being "put down". Mom was offered good money for it several times but refused. Blaze was purchased in El Paso in '61, I think.

    Mom has a photo of myself on it that I plan to scan and post as soon as I can get it from her.
