One could argue that since we have the ability to view more news from more sources it will make us more open. Those who think this, however, don't understand the fact that we are psychologically inclined to ignore news articles that may contradict our own views and ideas. We are more likely to subscribe to news websites that make our own ideals sit more comfortably with us.
