When is it ok to give sympathy to one sick man and not to another?
PLEASE READ ARTICLE FIRST .....
First let me state one thing.. the tragedy of what
happened cannot be minimized, it was a great loss of life and innocence.
But if the man was insane,
that is to say, if he had a medical
condition that caused him to fail and cause this tragedy, why should he be executed
? Or go to jail?
If a person was driving a Tractor
trailer ( a Lorie ) with a heavy load and had a had a stroke, heart attack or epileptic
fit and crashed his vehicle in to a tourist’s bus and wounded and killed the
same number of people, would he be a villain?
Would he be an unfortunate victim of a disease or medical
If somebody loses his ability
to reason, because of a sickness of the brain rather losing control due to one
of the heart or other organ, why is this person less deserving of mercy , or
No one sane, No one of reasonable
thought, would shoot scores of people, you have to be sick. Even if you use the
word evil, to describe this sick man, we all know it was not the devil, or possession
or anything like it, the man was just very sick and his mind was no longer
capable of functioning in normal society.
I am not saying that his man
should go scot free, I don’t really think you can recover from something like
this, but is prison or a death penalty the proper treatment for an
illness? Many of my fellow Americans
will be arguing this very thing. Many
will call for his death, and those that defend him will be called monsters.
But really , what is the difference between a
Illness in your brain or in your heart or arteries? Is it
not just an illness of a human organ? When
is it ok to give sympathy to one sick man and not to another?
