i find most stupid, but the one funny one was a giant piece of bread(hleb) chasing the Russian communist leaders and the caption stating "In soviet Russia bread eat you" (in Russian). I knew i had the right Russian teacher at that moment, but i find most annoying.
Well Lydecho Rain, first I like to say that I would seriously to visit your country, I seen some pretty pix from there. Second they quit picking on me long enough to pick on you, sorry. LOL
It's an internet meme. Here's the history of it: http://knowyourmeme.com/memes... Apparently it originated from a comedian in the 1980s. It's pretty much just an easy to make joke and isn't even really used to poke fun at Russia any more, if it ever was.
Unlike 99% of folks on SH I have actually been to Soviet Russia. Remember Medeo which at one time hosted the winter olympics. I went there. Other than an amusement park, lower down the mountain, it was pretty deserted. My friend Sveta, who accompanied us, lived most of her life in Almaty (born in Tashkent: has excellent English) told me that when she was a child families used to go up to the park every weekend under the soviet times. There were buses laid on down below and families had a good day out, and everyone went at one time or another. After the fall of the Soviet empire it went private: only the wealthy people went there (because the prices went up so much) and now, today it's pretty much a ghost town. That's progress apparently.
I still have people say them a lot, but whatever. I only got the idea for the question because I was talking to this girl about it and she soda something about this
I take it as a serious topic too, especially since I live in Russia But literally every time I see a post about this, there's one of these jokes and I kind of find it annoying.
In Soviet Russia, joke makes you
Violets are blue
In Soviet Russia
POEMS WRITE YOU!

In Capitalist America the banks rob you.
Looks to me like you're quoting jokes from 30 years ago.
