In a segment that’s bound to ruffle the feathers of some progressives, Bill Maher had some strong, sarcastic words for the Occupy Wall Street movement on Friday’s episode of “Real Time.”
His overall message: it’s time to leave the parks and get in the game. After citing some upcoming OWS plans, including an event on July 4 that will “facilitate a visioning process” as well as a gathering of the OWS “guitarmy” (i.e. a guitar army), Maher explained what OWS’ next step should actually be:

You've got to admit, OWS pretty much writes its own comedy script. But Bill Maher manages to add his sticking points to them here. His material only gets lame when he talks about the Tea Party. Old people jokes, Bill? Is that all you can say about them?
But Bill Maher is perhaps the ideological leader the "leaderless" OWS isn't looking for. So I say put on your Napoleon hat Bill, and lead your troops! Waterloo awaits!

Bill Maher has his cushy little zone of comfort on HBO which used to be a movie channel as I recall. He enjoys a commercial free echo chamber filled with adoring conformists and a guest roister that's 1/3 in liberals' favor. This protected environment is really the only kind of place his political species can survive anymore.
