What's More Important: Freedom or Safety?

Right, it has to do with taking away rights. Same deal.

Every President has signed it. Do you know what it is ? National Defense Authorization Act. What the Phuck does that have to do with taking away guns ?

Why not have both freedom AND safety?

In the cities with the strictest gun control, there is neither freedom nor safety.

Bad people ALREADY carry guns. They are not the least bit concerned about gun laws. The only question is whether or not victims are allowed to shoot back. I vote YES.

In my previous response I had misread the specifics of the question; i.e., I read it as a generalized question, not one specifically referring to the tragedy in that Colorado theater. My bad.
One thing I would point out, though, is this ; if no law abiding citizen were allowed to carry a gun, what effect would that have on criminals? The answer is that it would only make them bolder, knowing they were in no danger themselves.
Let's work to ban all possession of any weapon(s)....by criminals.

with freedom comes the ever impending threat of people using their freedom against you. i believe in the right to bare arms but at the same time wish no one had any.

I agree Kid Neon. What a great world it would be if there were no arms and bombs and nuclear weapons and the constant threat of violence. We only have ourselves to blame. It's all about power and wealth by extortion and violence. I reckon we're gonna be extinct shortly. It's so sad.

Freedom is a stepping stone to personal safety, America was founded on that principle.

Gun control is not on my mind. Humans are crazy and gun control isn't going to stop that.

Let's look at our government's ability to keep anything from someone who wants to get it!!! cocaine,Meth,heroine, ect. these things are all banned Yet any criminal or crazy person can get them!!! The only people that don't have these banned items are law abiding citizens. That is exactly what would happen with guns. I don't want to live in that world

If we were free to exercise our Second Amendment rights allowing legal qualified Americans to be armed this wouldn't have happened, someone could have shot Holmes before he killed so many innocent people.

The suspected shooter James Eagan could have killed many more people if he had used improvised explosive devices (IED's). Like the ones he"allegedly" rigged in his apartment. If guns weren't available, do you really think he wouldn't have found another way to do this?

The two are not mutually exclusive. True freedom protects a safe environment. The lack of freedom leads to tyranny and to less safety and allows corrupt government to bully and destroy at will.

Without Freedom there is nothing else...Safety is a relative thing in the real World...

So keep safe, GET A GUN!!! And a dog!!
