I would defend the teen, but also explain to them that they can't get the surgery 'just because they want to', that it takes time and doctors to diagnose that they are indeed transgendered before anyone will do a reassignment surgery, and even then, they aren't cheap.

This question is assuming that YOU know ALL of the facts, and I'm sure that wouldn't be possible if this happens to be a chance encounter.

Unless a parent is publicly causing physical injury to a child, it's no one's business . Stay out of it!

If I was the parent of the teen though my response would be. You want gender reassignment surgery? Great, well when you're an adult and can pay for all that it entails then feel free to do so until then you'll just have to make the best of the body that you have right now.

The parent has the responsibility of the child. Teens barely know what they want to do tomorrow. If the teen (or anyone) really wants a gender reassignment surgery, they should make certain and expect to explain the decision.

You have an excellent point. I agree with you completely. My only point, is that this shouldn't even be a topic of conversation. I have seen few capable of governing themselves, so they have no right to try and govern me. I believe that there are good people trying to do good thing. I just want them to do so, some where else....Just a thought...

How bad? Is she just explaining that she doesn't support it, or is she attacking him in a verbally abusive way? A mother offering an opinion in a less than polite way is fine, but verbal abuse is not acceptable, especially in public. I don't support transgenderism because of how it violates genetics, but I have no problem with people doing it if they choose to, after they are free from their parents' home.
