What would happen if Republicans had a SUPER-MAJORITY??!!

BlueRepublican 2012/06/16 17:04:26
Constitutional checks and balances. But what happens when one group has complete control of the governing process?

We briefly saw what a Democratically-controlled Super-Majority looked like.
We saw the legislation that was passed. We saw the hyper-partisanship and breakdown of communication with the opposition. Now we see the results of these actions.

Which begs the question: What would happen if Republicans had a SUPER-MAJORITY??!! That's right. A GOP controlled House, Senate and Republican President.

What do you think would happen? What kind of legislation would pass? Would the opposition have a chance? Where does that leave 3rd parties like the Libertarians? What direction would the country go in? What about the people?

I wanna know what you think. Leave me a comment, share with everyone you know, and don't forget to RAVE!!!!!!

What would happen if Republicans had a SUPER-MAJORITY??!!

Yes, the Democrats did have 60 votes during Obama's first term, but only for four months.

Would depend on what kind of republicans had the super-majority. If they were similar to the likes of Pelose, Reid, Schumar, etc., not good. Neither side of the aisle is worth much these days.

You are right you are obviously living in a Dream world of what you want. But are you satisfied with the destruction? The million of hard working people out of work? The thousands of regulations to prevent you from being stupid? Or the bare minimum of sustenance the gov't feels you deserve? or the Rich Bankers who are given sweetheart deals because they have gov't connection and you do not? Where is the freedom of having a garbage police to arrest and detain you. If you drop a recyclable can in the wrong bin? Or the thousands of cameras watch your ever move daily. Or knowing you could be arrested for violation of some sort of unknown regulation which has never been approved by any legislature. This is your utopia?

That's kinda what Obama has given us. More Americans not working than anytime in recent history, more Americans on handouts and food stamps than ever before.

And Obama chums around rubbing elbows with elitist jerks at his $40,000 a plate fundraisers completing the other side of your scenario.

Actually Republicans enjoy the land and want to conserve it just as much but we feel locking it away like Agenda 21 does is not the solution.

Nothing too unusual, because a super majority is too easy to lose. First I think we would get a budget, and then address spending cuts. There would be no new taxes until the country had definitely taken on the spirit of austerity.

The US has to learn to stop spending money it doesn't have and to stop expecting a tax increase to replace some fiscal discipline.

The same spending levels have been in effect since the last budget was passed a couple years ago. It is Obama's fault that nothing has been recrafted and agreed to since.

The Budget Control Act does not require a budget until next year, and I don't see the obstructing GOP appropriating anything that could pass except the 642 billion they just gave to the DOD.
  • Waldorf luvguins 2012/06/18 11:49:02

The budget act is just an agreement not to have a new budget. The "obstructing GOP" thing is a red herring.
