What would an economy run completely by the right wing look like?

Tea in the Harbor 2012/06/11 18:23:41
That's easy, because we already have an example of an economy designed and built by corporate leaders.

It's called Communist China.

Before international capitalists got involved in China, it was what most communist regimes are, an utter failure. But then in came the capitalists and to their delight they found that not only is capitalism consistent with a communist system, the two are very complimentary.

People who have no choice are a good deal, labor wise, and since that revelation they have done everything in their power to bring the shining example of success they built in China to the United States. Rather than our interaction with the Chinese bringing their people up to our level, it afforded the capitalists a route to bring all western nations down to the Chinese level.

Standards of living have gone down around the world directly due to the labor force supplied by the Chinese nation. They will continue to fall until either we reject the slavery and servitude of the Chinese people, or until their existence has made success impossible for anyone else without stooping to equally totalitarian measures.

China did not build Chinese industry, Apple Computers and Walmart did. They will do the same for us as soon as the lies of the right are uniformly enough accepted.

That Iphone in your hand is funding the end of democracy.
You!

We had that economy already. It was the economy under G W Bush which resulted in a huge increase in public workers, a decrease in private employment. A transfer of wealth from the middle class to the rich resulted in the worst economic collapse since the great depression.

As for Apple that is the result of pure capitalism.

    backwards article.

the only communists are the fundamental radicals that are transforming the economy and government.

ironically that fits the definition of a democrat, a dictionary definition

Right, take the political talking points above the facts you can easily see with your own eyes.

Who built China's industry? That's right, American and international corporations. If you think they're going to put any of us above their bottom line more than they did the Chinese people, you aren't bright enough to bother with.

    ^^ those were talking points.

    no facts.

but since youre not bright or courageous enough to accept that your party is fundamentally changing the economy one president at a time, you can go to hell :)

If there were a hell, it would be far too filled with Christians for an Atheist like me to ever get in. They invented it to scare themselves into acting morally, and it appears they filled a legitimate need.

    yeah you think so.

you must not know christianity then.

Yes, so unless you've committed some crime against God, there is no need for it. You have to be unethical for being Christian to make sense.

That's why the prisons are filled with Christians, they have to fabricate a new reality for them to feel good about themselves.
  • David L... Tea in ... 2012/06/13 15:49:37
    David Lindner
so its ok for atheists to be unethical?
  • Tea in ... David L... 2012/06/18 19:44:59

Atheists don't have to be threatened with eternal damnation OR bribed with eternal bliss to act morally. We do it because it's right. We'll never know whether Christians could be moral without coercion or bribery will we?

I have no doubt that there are unethical Atheists, but I don't know any.

Can you picture a walled city of the 14th Century, with a Priest of some bent deciding who will have their head chopped off today, and a fattened "Lord" of "King" ordering his subjects to go outside the gates and kill anyone found there, bringing back their daughters and cattle? Of course, there would be no schools or education, pedophiles would be part of the "Court" and every day sexual indulgence, screams from the basement would just be ignored, and the castle would be very cold in winter which is why all the Aristocrats had such heavy clothing. Mitten would have his "auto elevators", of course, and Dick Cheney would again be in charge of the activities in the basement where the screams come from.

The economy would simply consist of those within the castle walls claiming all the land and cattle, and anything else not hidden by the 98% of citizens without power over anything or even their own lives. The Reagan Banks would do what they do now, command the King and Priests to carry out their pillage and plunder. How different is this picture from that of today?

Once again you've hit the nail on the head my friend. Never owned an Iphone (or a Mac) & never will. I make it my business to check packaging so I can buy American as much as possible. I also make sure I don't buy anything that Koch Industries has put out. They sure have a diabolical plan since their prices are always cheaper. I've learned that Dollar General's own brand of toilet paper works remarkably well.

If you want to see what a world run by the right wing would look like, look at pre-Castro Cuba. Although the urban areas and the uber wealthy skew the overall picture of the economy of pre-Castro Cuba, the rural areas where t25% of the people lived were nightmarish.

    In rural areas:

    • 75% of rural dwellings were huts made from palm trees.
    • More than 50% had no toilets of any kind.
    • 85% had no inside running water.
    • 91% had no electricity.
    • There was only 1 doctor per 2,000 people in rural areas.
    • More than one-third of the rural population had intestinal parasites.
    • Only 4% of Cuban peasants ate meat regularly; only 1% ate fish, less than 2% eggs, 3% bread, 11% milk; none ate green vegetables.
    • The average annual income among peasants was $91 (1956), less than 1/3 of the national income per person.
    • 45% of the rural population was illiterate; 44% had never attended a school.

Of those who lived in the cities but were not wealthy, things weren't much better:

    • 25% of the labor force was chronically unemployed.
    • 1 million people were illiterate ( in a population of about 5.5 million).
    • 27% of urban children, not to speak of 61% of rural children, were not attending school.
    • Racial discrimination was widespread.
    • The public school system had deteriorated badly.

    • Corruption was endemic; anyone could be bought, from a Supreme Court judge to a cop.
    • Police brutality and torture were common.

The sex trade was rampant, because it was the only way for many young women (and men) to make a living.

THIS is what unbridled capitalism does to any society and would do to us, too....if you let it.

But they no longer do - they want to control everything from Happy Meals to Healthcare and everything in between "for our own good." Sorry, I think they forgot about individual rights and freedoms and traded them in for control - or at least that is what it looks like to these old eyes.

Yes, they want to control Happy Meals (read corporations hooking children on junk food) and healthcare (taking the profits out to reduce costs) for reasons (as explained)

However, it is us on the left who don't want the public schools teaching your children prayer, or wanting to get between a woman and her doctor, or wanting to dictate who an adult can love or marry.

I honestly think that believing that the government is the answer to any of these things is not correct. Parents can and should tell children they cannot have something - it is not the role of the government to do so - not now and not ever.

I will not go through the debacle we kindly call Obamacare save it is an intrusion into everyones lives that is just plain wrong. So many better ideas and alternatives; hard to imagine that they pushed this very lousy bill (so lousy that even Obama has publicly acknowledged it needs massive reform even before implementation in 2014) and pretend it is good. Rather like smiling and say 'poison is good for you because we say so'.

Public schools abandoned all prayer years and years ago, women have had the right to abort their children for over 40 years and there are no cases even in the pipe to overturn Roe - just idiotic rhetoric from both sides; as to who can marry who - that is a state issue and has been since the beginning of the USA - personally, I do not give a happy damn who screw who as long as they do not do it on my dinning room table.

Championing rights means allowing people to be free and not controlled by some central government - if you want a Big Mac, you should be able to have one; if I want one of those garbage can size drinks (I don't), then I should be able to buy one. It is like cigarettes, if indeed they are killers why are they still legal -- because, in reality, there is no absolute proof, and no absolute proof that they affect health care costs more than anything else, and they are a great tax revenue. I know, we can pile sets up to the roof of my house but the reality is we could use the same stats to prove that everyone with a TV or washing machine or refrigerator was at risk for cancer and so on.

Look, I just think that quarreling over who is the nicest on the block is an exercise - our nation needs both conservatives and liberals for lots of reasons including that the temper each other. - We do not need Progressives - they are the advocates of control and are a great threat to liberty and freedom.

Wow, did not mean to write a book - Later, have a good one

If parents knew what they were feeding their kids, you might be right about the government not having to interfere, but since the corporate controlled media is not going to inform you about pink slime or high fructose corn syrup (except to lie to you about them for money), then how can parents make an informed decision?

I don't like Obamacare any more than you do. I think this hybrid that keeps profits at center stage needs to be scrapped and a single payer system put in place.

Public schools abandoned prayer because the left didn't think it was right that the religious beliefs of a teacher should trump those of the parents and the only reason we are having a discussion about gay marriage is because we on the left thought it unfair that homosexuals couldn't enjoy the same rights and privileges as straight people.

As far as abortion goes, women have been able to get one ever since the country was formed - it has never been a violation of US code. Oh, and all Roe did was use the equal protection clause to say that if a woman in California has the right of choice, so should a woman in Colorado. If it were a federal law, no one would be able to do so and it would be equal and therefore Consitutional even after Roe. Ever wonder why no one has just done that?

Okay, that is taking it to an extreme, but I think it illustrates my point.

I understand them quite well, I ran my first political campaign in 1980. I was a conservative then, but conservatives had dignity and ethics back then.

As Jeb Bush said yesterday, Reagan and the leaders of the GOP's success back then would be spat on by today's lunatic fringe leadership.

Now that they've proven that communism is better for capitalism than democracy is by their Chinese experiment, they will do all they can to eliminate liberty and freedom from the world.

The new right wing is the beginning of a new "Dark Age" for humanity.

Actually, they make the originals look incompetent. Income stratification is far more pronounced today than it was in the Gilded Age.

Working Americans today are the poorest working Americans in our history as a share of the GDP. (You have to remember that before there were SSI and welfare, there was the Homestead Act, giving any American who wanted it raw land to develop as they saw fit.)
