New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg continues to stand in front of the media and tell us the importance of outlawing our favorite foods and bad habits. Bloomberg has tried to ban large, sugary sodas and smoking in public. Meanwhile, real crime in NYC with real victims gets far less attention. Serious crime like murder, rape, robbery and assault has increased over 4% in the city in the past year.
Tragically, the crime of rape has increased in New York City by 34% in the past four weeks. The NYPD CompStat report shows 141 rapes occurred in 28 days -- over five rapes per day. Robberies have increased nearly 6% in 2012.
The previous New York City Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, cut crime by nearly 75% during his term (1994-2001). Giuliani's and NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton adopted an aggressive enforcement/deterrent strategy based on James Q. Wilson's "Broken Windows" approach. Together they reduced serious crimes from 430,460 incidents in 1993 (before Giuliani took office) to 162,064 in 2001 (when Giuliani left office).
NYC has continued to cut crime historically since 2001, but recent years buck that trend and show an increase in crime. Has Mayor Bloomberg lost focus on the real danger to society -- violence and property crimes? Or should Mayor Bloomberg continue taking cues from the Obama Administration and focus on banning unhealthy lifestyles?

Callaway 2012/08/01 10:54:39Rape and Robbery+5Let's be honest here Mayor Bloomingwimp has lost touch with reality in general. He's been a light weigh putz since he was elected he continues to lose weight soon he will be able to fly around the room like freaking Peter Pan at the rate he's going lately. Out of his league.

Perhaps he should focus on an actual problem, instead of banning drink sizes.
What I'd really like to see him fighting is some one's fist of freedom punching him right in his fascist, turtle-looking face.
I'd like to be a fly on the fall in this guy's multimillion dollar brownstone to see what he, in fact, eats when out of the public eye, come on. I'm sure he has a big fat cigar to go along with his sugar, salt, fat-laden meals and nightcap!!!
I admire him for his success and entrepreneurship, but wish he would keep his warped nanny-state ideas to himself.
keep him in NYC
but this is the RIGHT answer...
HIMSELF...
